How many HDHR Extend's can a Servio or Scribe handle at one time?
The info on preorder stated
Record upto 6 programs at a time from any HDHomeRun device and playback 4 recordings at the same time.

Keep in mind like the recent tuners, according to sheets I've seen, its a 10/100 port not gigabit

Edit: added quote for who i was replying to as for me this post went on a new page...

Trying to understand the Servio - if I have an Android phone, Chromecast, and a Servio on my network with 2 dual tuner HomeRun Connect's - do I have a complete DVR solution? I can run the HDHomeRun software on my phone, select what programs I want to record or play back; cast them to my TV, and control playback from the phone, right? Will the Servio record programs I've scheduled when I'm away and the phone isn't on the network?

Confirming, the SERVIO has full DVR smarts - the SERVIO will record from your CONNECT tuners without your Android phone being present.

For playback to a big screen TV we normally recommend using a smart device like an Android TV box or an XBox One.

I just pre-ordered the Scribe 4 tuner …. currently I run the DVR on a NAS … when I activate the Scribe will it record to the DVR with the most space in this case it would be the NAS ?

Nick:
You said you usually recommend an Android TV Box or XBox for use with the Servio.
Would a Firestick work, or would I be better off with a Xiaomi Mi Box S, or other hardwired ethernet Android TV Box?

A Fire Stick would work as well, at least for OTA content. CableCARD users would want to stick with Android TV in case they ever need DRM support in the future.

The Mi Box is a popular choice.

The top of the line is the Nvidia Shield - I like that Nvidia stay up to date with the latest Android TV versions.

The FireTV boxes and sticks to date have been lower performing products with different models having different known quirks. If buying a new product there are better choices. If you have cable TV you won't be able to watch protected channels on FireTV devices.

the Servio and Scribes I've read are stackable with eachother and other Gen 5 hardware. Is there any thought to have a power supply with multiple barrel connections so we won't need a dedicated power strip just to run all our HDHomerun hardware. I currently have a Prime (hopefully soon replaced with a Prime 6), a connect Duo that will be in use when a set up an antenna properly, a preorder for a Servio, and if the antenna works out I'll get a Scribe Duo, Then the option for future Servios as needed. With all these I will need a dedicated switch and powerstrip just for my HDHomerun hardware.

Maybe you can design and sell a small powered rack that can act as a switch also that these devices can just slide into and get power and network through
We haven't really considered this before, but I'd be all about it personally. I think it would definitely depend on demand. If there are a bunch of people getting multi-tuners and multiple servios, it definitely would make sense to at least look into it.
It could be like it's own NAS with the tuners in. create a backplane circuit board with Ethernet plugs built in and barrel plugs that line up with the tuners and servios that also line up with Ethernet ports on an off the shelf 8 port switch with one power supply and one Ethernet port to router or another switch. encase it with openings to slide the units into.. Kind of like an Allen Bradley 500 PLC design. Have holes in the back where the coax plugs in and have coax exterders that you can screw in from the back and then connect your coax cable to the extender right in the back of the plane.
without a case redesign it would be difficult
first finding a mounting rj45 plug is hard to find, and secondly lining up a 9mm barrell connector and 15mm rj45 has high risk of insertion damage.
in the end you'll be forced to have holes in the back and manually wire up each device (power, eth, and rg6)
for my 3 quattros I use this desktop 6 port 60W charger from anker https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00P936188, 5v dlink 5 port switch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AKRTLXA, and then usb to barrell cables such as https://www.amazon.com/USB-DC-Connector ... B07P5CSH3P.
the charger can deliver upto 2.4A per port, but need to keep an eye on overall amps.. see psu specs for hdhomeruns viewtopic.php?f=15&t=19204
no Servio/Scribe specs yet.. but since 2.5" drive am guessing is gonna be 5v 1-2.5A.
a nice chassis would be good though to hold it all :)

Can we also get these devices listed in the Product tab on the website with a link to the pre-order site.

Agree. a Chassis to hold the tuners and unmanaged switch with a multi barreled power supply would work and would be a nice addition. But for a pro version could go with what I mentioned above, but to overcome some of the design flaws you pointed out, a cap could be designed to connect to the back of the tuners and to make the connections into one high speed connector that would allow the tuner to slide into a backplane of the chassis to provide Ethernet and power and a hole for the coax.

Love (sarcastic) how the link to pre-order the Scribe Duo via Best Buy for $199 had a "People Ultimately Bought" ad for Fire recast at $189.... Great start to partnering with Best Buy for an exclusive

The only thing I'm disappoint in is can't be a true cord cutter device because it can't pull PSIP data (EPG data)

They have said it was upgradable...the issue is 7mm height so most above 2TB won't work (supposedly there is a 7mm 4TB drive but i haven't seen it on stock (or at least at a decent price, and i generally don't like ssd's for dvr and there supposedly are some larger ssd's)

The info for such was at viewtopic.php?f=15&t=70590&p=336682

Which now says it got moved to the "info" pages however the link there is broke but one can click the navigation menu for the servio/scribe there.
