Protocol error - schmidt555

Post by schmidt555 » Thu Jun 06, 2019 6:52 pm

I am getting this error on each of my devices. I do not have a DVR. Extend scans channels, but displays this error when selecting any channel. Wifi, network cable, antenna have all confirmed to work properly. Light on back of extend device is a steady green. Device ID = 10555BVF. Any thoughts for what is causing this issue?

Can I get you to double check that Device ID for me? It's not coming up as a valid ID in our system.

Definitely an invalid device ID. They only use 0-9 and A-F.

Since the middle 6 digits of a device ID are the vendor assigned MAC address (the IEEE OUI assigned vendor part of the MAC is well known), and the last digit is (I think) a "check" digit, that was obvious (with the check digit one can estimate the wrong digit)... But I digress (a little bit).

You know that, and I know that, but for the 99% of the population who have never worked with hexadecimal numbers, it's not so obvious.
