I think you may not want to update. My video looks like it is in slow motion after updating on my Nvidia Shields 2015 and Pro. Have 2 2017's but afraid to let them update.

After much uninstalling and installing and restarting and powering on and off all is well. Sorry for the post.

The update is running normally on my Shield 2017. I just don't know yet whether it fixes the A/V sync issue. I'm letting it run for a while...

FYI - I've been running the 20190206 release for hours on my Shield TV Pro 2017 and have not seen any issues with it so far. A/V remains in sync on multiple channels, including DRM, and I've had no video freezes.

Since I cannot seem to locate this in the new software package does anyone know where to find version 20180817 which has it included.

Had stuttery / "slow-mo" playback after update (not on beta versions anymore - went from the last stable...I think august... to this version). I fixed it by uninstalling and reinstalling (vs. upgrading).

Note that if you aren't careful you will lose your recordings. Easiest workaround is to move or copy recordings out of the silicondust storage folder, then uninstall, then reinstall, the reenable DVR features, then copy the recordings back. In my case I had to MOVE not COPY because I had more recordings than I did free space. Moving and copying is pretty easy to do using X-Plore file manager.

@nickk you guys really need to look into (at least on shield) optionally putting the recordings somewhere other than the app directory so they don't get deleted on app removal. I believe this is accomplished by putting recordings into a subdirectory of the directory called " NVIDIA_SHIELD" in the root of the external drive. So for instance "/storage/B1CA-2B28/NVIDIA_SHIELD/HDHR_DVR/" would work.

[the "NVIDIA_SHIELD" directory in the root is a special place with read-write permissions granted across the system and contents do not get deleted when apps are uninstalled... this seems to be a shield-only feature, but the shield is officially recommended, so adding some config hooks for even better support would be great]

A better work-around is to change the AC3 passthrough setting as explained below.
There is a known issue with the current app release when watching channels with 5.1 audio enabled and being output but not using AC3 passthrough. As a temporary workaround, open the HDHomeRun app, press play/pause 13 times, and enable Use AC3 passthrough.

The new Android beta that fixes the Shield playback issues with multichannel PCM audio is now available.

Edit:

AndroidTV app is now working again and the Fire tablet app seems to work much better (assuming that was updated).

Edit 2:

The AndroidTV app is broken again. Come on SD.
