Mine failed with the wired adapter. I've sent them both back. Hopefully there will be a real fix at some point. Though I don't understand how some people appear to be working and others still have problems.

I do not understand that either … I switched over to wireless and connected to my router AC only and it has been working fine.

Maybe there is a bad batch of Fire Stick 4K devices? Even my year old Fire Stick will work but some channels give it fits so I'm guessing that's just a hardware deficiency.

Bought my firestick 4k on boxing day and it runs great for an hour or 2 on the hdhomerun app, then freezes up on me. I have to do a hard reset to get it working again. Very annoying. Will probably toss it in a drawer for now and hope for an update sometime soon.

I've recently bought the Fire 4k TV Stick and an HDHomeRun Connect Duo and cannot get the official app to run without crashing after 5-10 minutes. I'm in the UK so I'm trying to watch Freeview HD via DVB-T2. The app on other devices works fine (android phone, pc, etc), however, so it's incredibly frustrating that I cannot get it working on the FTV4K. I'm running everything over ethernet too. When can we expect an update from Silicon dust regarding this issue?

It appears to be the video processing sub-system of the FireTV 4k stick that is wedging itself. This is something Amazon needs to fix.

Best at this time is to use a product other than a FireTV 4k stick

Is there a way to give us the option to use hardware or software decoder in the HDHomeRun App ? The software decoder on these sticks works very well... my stick has no problem using the Homerun app.... it appears to be hit or miss.

Channels has a software decoder for FireTV 4K devices. If you're not a user of their DVR, the app must be purchased, though.

That is why I posted if HDHomeRun can use software decoder for those having a problem … I have no problem using HDHomeRun APP in my 4k Firestick. Watched football pre game and watching the game no hiccups at all using HDHomeRun APP. The only problem I am having is watching this rout.

I gave up waiting for Amazon and just went back to my old 2nd gen Firestick. It runs flawlessly with my HDHomerun Duo. Won't be buying anymore Amazon brand products.

I also wonder if this may be a bad batch issue. I could not replicate a failure on wired or wireless FTtVStick4K or FTV4K with 8+ hours wired or wireless. FTV stick Gen 1 and 2 still runs OK too. I ran full day for each on wired and wireless from Prime and Quatro (PTV) to these players.

update...
Actually the Stick-V1 was just wireless as that is all it supports, but the others were tried for both wired and wireless ....

I watched the full patriots game now watching the New Orleans game on my FireTV 4k and no problems.

I was watching one of the football games yesterday on my Stick 4K and after 1-2 hours it froze like always and I had to reboot. The only way I can seem to get it to run for a reasonable length of time is to transcode to h264 via my Emby server. All 3 of mine do this. My Fire TV 2nd Gen will play it fine with no issues.

I was able to view about 3 hours of recordings last night before it crashed and I had to reboot.

On the plus side I just learned I can pair my bluetooth headphones to the 4K Fire Stick. Previously I was using the TaoTronics Bluetooth 5.0 Transmitter and Receiver https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DW ... UTF8&psc=1 and the lag was a little noticable but bearable; now I can't notice any lag.

Hi, Is their any further news on this problem yet? I’m in the UK & having exactly the same freezing problems, with the new Fire TV Stick 4k (3rd Gen) when watching live tv via a HDHomerun Duo, OTA receiver. Either through the HDHR app, Plex or Kodi app. I also note that this freezing problem can be repeatedly replicated when replaying a Live TV recording made via the Plex Media Server back through the Plex Media Player app on the new Fire TV Stick 4k, however I am able to successfully replay this same recording on the same 4k stick using VLC media player without any freezing whatsoever!!! Most importantly, I don’t experience these freezing problems whatsoever when using other non 3rd gen 4k Fire TV Stick devices Including the Fire TV Stick (2nd Gen) or the original Fire TV Stick (1st Gen). So I assume its a problem with the Fire TV Stick (3rd Gen) Firmware? I am a little worried coz I bought 3 of these latest Sticks just before xmas & my window to return them will close soon! I’m wondering if its not a firmware issue & its a hardware issue that I may end up with 3 devices that are useless for my intended purpose?

btw: As a partial work around for the time being & if it helps anybody: I recently also noticed, that for me, this Plex Fire TV Stick 4k freezing problem seems only to occur during "direct play" playback mode only, subsequently by playing with the Plex "H264 Maximum Level" settings & reducing the 5.2 recomended setting to 3.2 I have been able to avoid this 1080 freezing problem, coz the 1080p high definition TV that I receive here requires 4.0 or above to enable "direct play" so reducing the setting to below 4.0 enables "Transcoding" mode which I don't experience any picture freezing problems whatsoever with. Problem is the majority of the live TV content or TV channels that I receive are in a lower definition resolution, so with the lower resolutions plex automatically reverts back to "Direct Play" mode when I again experience the same old freezing problems. I also note that in the Plex Roku Media Player App, there is a facility to fully disable "Direct Play" mode, unfortunately I cant see this facility in the Plex Android Media Player App? Whilst I appreciate this is certainly not a proper fix, its a temporary workaround that may assist some peeps with their constant picture freezing problems while playing Higher Res Live TV Shows.
