Re: The HDHomeRun Scribe Duo has been nominated for a Best of CES Award
The problem is that if you are a cable card custoer there is nowhere else to go other than SD if your Prime fails..... all you can hope for is to get one from Ebay and hope it has no issues. Ebay sellers know this and are asking a high price for them.Congratulations SD, this product definitely deserved a nomination.
We aren't mad they are taking their time and perfecting it. We are mad they abandoned it for these other products, kicked it to the side, not spending time to perfect it, and then in between made a tweak or 2 here and there. They had a prototype in hand a year ago and it still not sent to cable labs? They need to devote full time to getting it out. A lot of people are getting furious and about to abandon SD products altogether, which as others have explained, they may need to as their equipment dies and can't be replaced.

If that were to happen in my household, there is no way I would do that. I would go a different solution just because. A lack of planning does not constitute an emergency on my part. I think I am already starting a Plan B. testing the waters. The problem is that if you are a cable card custoer there is nowhere else to go other than SD if your Prime fails..... all you can hope for is to get one from Ebay and hope it has no issues. I am too looking at other solutions that does not include Prime. For now I am testing using a Roku with XFINITY Stream on my main entertainment system (Man/Woman Cave)..... trying to ween myself off the Primes.
… As I only have 1 Cable BOX in the house.

Re: The HDHomeRun Scribe Duo has been nominated for a Best of CES Award
if my Primes were to die, the ONLY solution for me would go back to Spectrum cable boxes.
Re: The HDHomeRun Scribe Duo has been nominated for a Best of CES Award
I wish we had Spectrum here. They're close but not 'allowed' in my area. They are about half the price I'm paying.if my Primes were to die, the ONLY solution for me would go back to Spectrum cable boxes.
I still can't believe SD has no cable card boxes available at this time. Isn't that what they are known for?

I think Lon is having an interview today with one of the heads of SD we should know more when it is posted.

Find it odd how they negotiate cable deals (city vs county). One side of the street in city has Comcast. Other side of street has Spectrum.I wish we had Spectrum here. They're close but not 'allowed' in my area.

NOLA has kissed Cox arse for decades and other than AT&T, there is NO competition. Spectrum advertises here but is only allowed in parishes about 35 miles away or further. What happened to competition?Find it odd how they negotiate cable deals (city vs county). One side of the street in city has Comcast. Other side of street has Spectrum.I wish we had Spectrum here. Sounds pretty good for new customers and those not heavily invested.
