Migrating DVR from one NAS to another

Postby pplwin » Tue Jan 08, 2019 12:32 pm

New to Homerun and HomeDVR.

Mainly interested on NAS based DVR and Homerun seems the only working one.

I had initially setup the HomeDVR as a test on a WD NAS drive and it is working fine. However, I now want to migrate it to my main NAS which is 4 drive Synology NAS.

I am hoping for directions and help on how to migrate this . Many thanks for any inputs or experience.

Its pretty easy. Stop the dvr engine on the current NAS. Install the dvr engine on the new NAS. Copy any recordings over, restart the dvr engine on the new NAS.

Thanks, I'll try that.

The WD MyCloud works well but my Plex server is on the Synology and cannot see the DVR on the WD side. In any case, I will have more HDD space on the Synology NAS.

Just make sure the WD MyCloud does not restart the DVR app when it reboots. Otherwise you will start getting dual recordings
