Hello,
First of all, my apologies for my bad english (I'm dutch)
This is my setup:
- DVB-C cable
- HDHomerun expand with 4 tuners
- TVHeadend for the decrypting of the channels (from my original card)
(TVheadend is on a virtual ubuntu machine with enough ram etc).
I have configured the HDhomeRun and this is working great.
I can stream a (non encrypted) channel to my pc or phone with VLC
TVHeadend finds the HDHomerun tuners, and finds the channels (so for so good).
But when i watch the same (non encrypted) channel from tvheadend, its working very badly.
The quality is bad and not smooth.
According to my information, when i pick the stream profile "pass", it doesn't transcode anything,
so the quality has to be the same right?.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance.
HDhomeRun TVheadend quality multiple tuner
Re: HDhomeRun TVheadend quality multiple tuner
Update: i have disabled 3 out of 4 tuners in tvheadend, and than the quality is oké, buy with 4 tuners the video is blockly.
Re: HDhomeRun TVheadend quality multiple tuner
That sounds like a network packet loss issue if your streaming multiple channels at same time, particularly if on wifi. Depends a bit on your source and the codec used in your area to distribute shows?
You should be able to enable diagnostics to silicondust and recreate the issue and ask for an opinion on issue via trouble ticket [note time of tests, one tuner vs four]. Make sure to enable diagnostics on the setup program [advanced tab] and in the playback devices app if using HDHR app on any devices [which should work better and easier than vlc IWT]. They can also check for any issues with the tuner or power supply which may effect multi tuner use leaving the first tuner in the group performing the best and the last the worst if at all.
