On attached SD “Ad” for 6 tuner Prime:
“Not intended for use with HDHomeRun PremiumTV service”
Is this really true?

Re: 6 tuner prime soon !!!
yes... just as it is now. For premium one would need a connect or extend
I would also state that to offer premium it would be a mess if one had a prime unless on comcast with the west coast feeds, as the software doesn't understand multiple channel 1403s so it may at times display east or at other times display west, or if you are not on comcast not even be the correct channel and show. If they moved the channels to the 5000s, 6000's or even 10000's it most likely would not interfere with the cablecard lineup.

Just looking at the specs listed, I am wondering if the cause for delay may be due to changing the network interface to gigabit? It was suggested here in the forums a few weeks/months back that this new prime would only have 100mbps ethernet. Can anyone chime in on this?

Re: 6 tuner prime soon !!!
The original Prime is GbE, so it would stand to reason that a new device needing even more bandwidth would be GbE by default.DroidTV wrote: ↑Wed Sep 12, 2018 2:31 pmJust looking at the specs listed, I am wondering if the cause for delay may be due to changing the network interface to gigabit? Re: 6 tuner prime soon !!!
It was probably me that said that. I assumed the new 6-tuner prime would only have 100 Mbps based on the specs of the commercial TECH5-36CC model. The new Prime might have had gigabit planned from scratch.DroidTV wrote: ↑Wed Sep 12, 2018 2:31 pmJust looking at the specs listed, I am wondering if the cause for delay may be due to changing the network interface to gigabit? Re: 6 tuner prime soon !!!
I never understood why the Qutaro is 100 Mbps but the Prime is gigabit when OTA requires more bandwidth than cable.Ken.F wrote: ↑Wed Sep 12, 2018 2:51 pmIt was probably me that said that. Re: 6 tuner prime soon !!!
Actually OTA is limited to about 25Mbps max per channel... cable is around 38. Thus (less than) 3 channels max on cable with 100Mbps.
However it would be quite rare for one virtual channel to maximize either.

Re: 6 tuner prime soon !!!
US 8VSB is (~max) 18Mbps, so 4 full rate streams is less than 100Mbps (and for an engineered solution such as this, that works). US QAM256 is (~max) 38Mbps, so 3 full rate streams is greater than 100Mbps. Now, in practice, a particular program is rarely full rate stream, but historically you tend to design for the worst case, especially when you document in your docs the capability to perform full rate streaming for off device de-muxing. If you document only the newer virtual channel APIs you may be able to get away with lower port rates.
As far as the HDHR5-6CC, the specs on the web site may, or may not, be correct (I'll bet a lot of the marketing started as cut/paste). I seem to recall someone (from SD?) stated that it was 100Mbps. I tend to believe statements from those who likely have held the device in their hand (or at least touched one on the bench) more than what I see on a marketing web site.
Re: 6 tuner prime soon !!!
If it's gigabit, then no one told me about the change, because it's always been 100Mbit up until now. I'm trying to get confirmation, but for now I'm assuming that gtb hit the nail on the head with that cut and paste comment.
