thanks for clarifying that.
So it is not possible to get a QPKG from Silicondust, and that is what is provided here? Is it the free version or is possible to enable the full version?
What do you use in kodi as a client? The TV Server in kodi or the hdhomerun addon?
Sorry for the newbie questions
QNAP QPKG for DVR Record Engine
Re: QNAP QPKG for DVR Record Engine
The current recorder can be installed manually using the provided installers to many NAS's, but it currently requires re-installation at every reboot of the NAS. SD has stated their intention (at or near GA) to offer installers/packages for "market leading" NAS manufactures, and some OS variants, which will support the automatic restart capabilities of those platforms, but has not done so yet (GA is still a bit away). The result is that the community has stepped up in the interim for a number of platforms.henningdalgaard wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2017 12:54 pm So it is not possible to get a QPKG from Silicondust
The recorder engine (which can be installed on platforms other than a NAS) requires one to obtain a license for the project itself if you want to use the SD recording capability.

And I've worked with SD to contribute back my addition to them.. In effect I'm maintaining it right now, but it's owned by SD, and sits in their GIT repository.
I see the confusion from the bottom of https://www.silicondust.com/dvr-service/henningdalgaard wrote: Is it the free version or is possible to enable the full version?
The Free App is actually the viewer applications such as VIEW and/or the Kodi plugin.. You will get limited guide data, etc.. This is not covered by this QPKG.
The Full App is the combination of the view app which is free, and the DVR engine which at the moment is pre-release and is $60/yr for now, and will drop to $35/yr subscription.
This QPKG contains the DVR engine only.
I don't use Kodi, but there is a plugin provided by Silicondust for their DVR engine, and there are other plugins too. What do you use in kodi as a client? The TV Server in kodi or the hdhomerun addon?
More info in the Kodi forum viewforum.php?f=88
And in particular check out viewtopic.php?f=88&t=63656 for info on installing the silicondust plugin.
No need apologize - takes a while to get up to speed on it allSorry for the newbie questions
Re: QNAP QPKG for DVR Record Engine
First I want to thank you VERY MUCH for what you have done here. You have made it a breeze to run HDHR DVR on my QNAP. Not sure why SD wouldn't do this on their own.
I have a question and I don't know if its for you or SD....
What happens often to me is that I'll be watching a show, then I decide to change channels and it freezes. I can go about the app but no matter what channel I select its frozen. If I exit the app and go n=back in I then get a black screen. IF I go into the Android Live TV app I get the spinning wheel and nothing happens. I have to FC the HDHR app and then it will go in and work again.
I'm hoping maybe some logs or something could lead me in who to contact and possibly get a solution on this.
Thank you!

you're welcome!
am sure SD would eventually get around to it. I just wanted something quicker..

definitely something for SD... turn in diagnostics, open a new thread and post your android box details and device IDs of your hdhomerun devices

Thanks for the reply.... It just happened again. HDHR logs didn't show anything but this is what I saw in the QNAP log:demonrik wrote: ↑Sat Feb 04, 2017 1:29 pmyou're welcome!

Re: QNAP QPKG for DVR Record Engine
Shouldn't there be an update? The Gray app for android updated.

Re: QNAP QPKG for DVR Record Engine
This has nothing to do with gray, only engine (not clients) which hasn't been updated
Re: QNAP QPKG for DVR Record Engine
Oh ok thanks... So nothing has changed in the Record engine? ver.20161107signcarver wrote: ↑Wed Feb 22, 2017 4:20 pm This has nothing to do with gray, only engine (not clients) which hasn't been updated

Re: QNAP QPKG for DVR Record Engine
Hi,
I'm a bit confused about the RECORD engine version that this tool is reporting.
This tool reports the engine is version 20161107 (recent posts in this thread indicate there have been no changes since that version, so therefore no updates to this QPKG)
However, I had previously installed the RECORD engine to my QNAP via the SD Windows configuration tool / NAS Setup process
and when I go to the ENGINE's status page it says that version 20161216 is installed.
I checked the hash of the hdhomerun_record binary on the QNAP itself and it is equivalent to the hdhomerun_record_linux_20161206beta1 binary that I downloaded direct from SD.
Is this package out of date?
Is this package superceded by the https://github.com/demonrik/HDHR-DVRUI project?
Thanks,
-Steve

SD continue to up the version number on each release - but nothing has actually changed.shoek wrote: ↑Tue Feb 28, 2017 11:52 am Hi,

They key is to check what is presented in my.hdhomerun.com for the record engine.
As long as there is a green tick beside the version - you are good.
Re: QNAP QPKG for DVR Record Engine
got it... thanks for the clarification! (and good work on the HDHR DVR-UI project too )

Re: QNAP QPKG for DVR Record Engine
supposedly they improved diagnostics reporting of record path on 20161206 but that was only for windows (I believe they did bump all platforms to that version number though). After that I believe the only changes in version number were on android (i.e. using the shield for the recording engine) but the windows packaging may have also reflected the version number change.
