I would really like to be able to record a currently airing program or future program from the guide. I know the modded addon can do this, but it won't run properly on my set up, plus I like the simplicity of the regular addon.
Is this a feature that's coming?

He's not talking about your add-on but that with SD the record button brings up the series rather than just records. It has been stated that by RC we will have record from live, including buffer so I suspect the button will do that.

Re: Record from guide
Sorry, I've been using the "app" more this past week than normal instead of kodi and I was reading "it" as the record button not the mod and I swear I see that question "ten" times a week... I don't see any reason for mod not to run as essentially it is the same as far as being able to run (and also don't believe it is any more complicated), unless one just didn't want a PC on.
As far as recording future programs from the guide does work in kodi add-on (just verified it, yes you do need to be participating with SD's DVR project)... unfortunately recording current programs is tricky as clicking on it would take one to the channel, not record.

Re: Record from guide
TVJunkie that's correct I was referring to your addon. When I disable your guide to use the original, I can't get it to pop up.
I have payed for the early access dvr functionality, but was never able to get the native kodi pvr addon to recognize I had. It still gives me 4 hours of guide data and no recording option.
The basic addon here works great for me however! I prefer it over the native kodi addon anyways. As you said though, it doesn't work to record what's currently playing. I even found a currently airing program by manually searching it and set it to record whIle it was airing. Didn't work though.
This reminds me of another question I had. Are you able to play in progress recordings? I haven't had a chance to test this out.

Re: Record from guide
You can't get the channel guide to display? When the TVJunkieMOD UI is disabled, it reverts to the original guide UI (doesn't include the slice view that's been added to the official.) You're not seeing that pop up? Or are you trying to get the official addon/DVR menus to pop up? If that's the case you wont find them in the mod addon. The TVJunkieMOD addon doesn't integrate/use the official HDHomerun DVR service. (neither does the PVR addon). TVJunkieMOD is both a front end (player) and back end (recorder).
It can playback while recording, if the same device is performing both the recording and playback. (might not be able to if one device is recording, and another tries to play it).

Oh okay I get it now. I am am early access subscriber and really like the dvr interface so that was what I was searching for. Thank you for explaining!

If you hadn't figured it out already you go through Video add-ons and in add-ons look for HDHomeRun and load [current version 2017.1.2].
