Post by N5XZS »

KNMD-DT has filed to FCC to for ATSC 3.0 rf ch. 8 at 16.6 KW, ERP on 6-30-21. :D

KNMD-DT is a PBS station and will carry sister station KNME-DT on ATSC 3.0 rf channel 8 will carry PBS, PBS Kids, FNX and KNMD-DT's PBS World and PBS Create.

Still no news on our local commercial stations at this time... 8-)

KNMD-DT, is now off the air and gets ready to switch over to ATSC 3.0 pretty soon.

They might be testing on and off till the official go on the air in June 30th in ATSC 3.0 format. 🙂

Happy to let you know that our local PBS station KNMD-DT is now transmitting ATSC 3.0.!🙂

Since I don't have ATSC 3.0 digital tuner, so I use my RTL SDR "Software Defined Radio" dongle, via computer, wish there's a way to post the picture on this thread. 🙄🙂

Are you using the SDR as a spectrum analyzer?

You can attach pictures to your post.

I don't believe SDRSharp allows extracting video. You can listen to FM radio but that's about it. There are also plugins for NTSC but not ATSC. I'd love to be wrong.

RTL SDR, will pick up WBFM, NBFM, WAM, NAM, USB, LSB " Upper and Lower Signal Sideband" and NTSC and PAL AM analog video.

Now on my spectrum analyzer scopes allow me to see ATSC 3.0's signal carrier, not decoding it.

That's only way to see if they are on the air and yes KNMD-DT is on the air, probably in testing mode before officially going on the air to public on June 30th. 🙂

Air Spy display looks like bandscope in 2 MHz wide ranges on top part showing radio carriers looks like Mountain tops.

Bottom part of the screen shows waterfall about 5 seconds into the past realtime, great for hunting down elusive 2 way radio comms.

For life of me this website's forum won't put my pictures in.

Compare to satelliteguys.us which is very easy to for putting pictures in.

Just use searches on my ham radio call letter N5XZS or go to trip's threads on Satelliteguys.us, and you will see my RTL SDR's picture shot of spectrum scope analyzer computer screen showing KOAT-DT ATSC 1.0 and KNMD-DT ATSC 3.0 side by side.🙂

Hope this helps!😎

You are trying to tell us the spectrum looks different on 1.0 and 3.0? ;)

It is not this site that does not allow posting pictures from satelliteguys, it is satelliteguys who do not allow pictures to be included - here or anywhere else.

You are not using AirSpy but R820T2 ;)

Here is another image with 1.0 on the left(pilot signal included) and 3.0 on the right via a remote spyserver with AirSpy
