Detroit ATSC 3.0 - Jan 2021
Re: Detroit ATSC 3.0 - Jan 2021
I was wondering - how should I do a recording, and where should I upload it? I could see if I could get one that crashes, and one with video that stutters on the Chromecast (that is limited to two channels on that device only). I don’t use the HDHomeRun DVR, but could sign up for the free trial...
Re: Detroit ATSC 3.0 - Jan 2021
Recordings from the HDHomeRun DVR are ideal since you know for sure they will cause the problems you see and you can provide a specific time for SD to look at. Once you have a recording that does it, upload it to whatever cloud storage site you prefer (Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, iCloud, etc.) and use the builtin function to get a shareable link and email that to support at silicondust dot com along with a detailed description of the issue (what happens, what device it happens on, and when in the recording it happens).
Re: Detroit ATSC 3.0 - Jan 2021
Apparently there is no free trial that I can find of the HDHomeRun DVR - it’s only available in one year subscriptions. Is there an alternative way I could use to get a recording? I’ve primarily been using Channels, so I could record with that. I see the stuttering video on 107.1/120.1 on both Channels and the HDHomeRun app on the Chromecast, though the crashing is limited to the HDHomeRun app.
Re: Detroit ATSC 3.0 - Jan 2021
I believe they'll give you a full refund on the DVR subscription within 30 days, so you could order, record stuff for a a few days to get what you need, then ask for a refund.
Re: Detroit ATSC 3.0 - Jan 2021
You don't need the DVR to record a sample of whatever length you want. As to where to upload it, just wherever you can that you can share from (onedrive, dropbox, etc)thully wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 6:55 pm Apparently there is no free trial that I can find of the HDHomeRun DVR - it’s only available in one year subscriptions. They generally request a sample of a V channel with this format:

Re: Detroit ATSC 3.0 - Jan 2021
If someone who takes 10 minutes or so to crash does this instead, it might be easier, but I have 2 1 hour files one format=dbg which is a much higher bitrate, I'm not sure what it does but it seems to be the entire bitrate of the channel and not the virtual channel and then 1 hour long video for just 162.1.
I tried for awhile to get a 102.1 as well but its about 50/50 whether these files have audio or not (i don't have this problem in an application except plex and that's a plex known issue) when grabbed this way.
I did notice at least once that while recording one of the 102.1's i didn't upload the symbol strength went to 0 percent briefly so if its something related to drops like that i'm not sure these files would cause a crash, but at least they are better than nothing...
I watched this tuner for 1.5 or so of the football games this past weekend directly to my LG TV through whatever method it can see the tuner on the network and everything was perfect for hours except for one part where there was as spinning circle for a minute or so for some reason. The TV is connected via wifi so it really could have been anything but while I have issues with hdhomerun app on my phone or an the nvidia shield pro crashing freezing etc is generally not an issue.
send diagnostics are on the device and android apps in case you need these:

Re: Detroit ATSC 3.0 - Jan 2021
I just managed to get a capture (in debug mode) from 102.1 (WJBK in Detroit market) during which the HDHomeRun app crashed on my Chromecast with Google TV.

This happens every 5-10 minutes on that device, and I've noticed that the sound goes out for a couple seconds before the crash.
Additionally, I captured 107.1 also in debug mode (WXYZ in Detroit market), as that channel (and 120.1 aka WMYD, which has common ownership with WXYZ) have constant video stuttering when viewing via the Chromecast:

Having the same issue as thully. Watching channel 107.1 ATSC 3.0, plays for about 10 or 15 minutes in crashes to the desktop.
Using a Mecool KM1, audio and video for working perfectly.

v102.1...
Win10 plays fine.
Android - plays for about 10s then crashes.
AppleTV - audio is smooth, video has a repeating play then jump pattern.

Did you reproduce the 107.1 Android video stuttering issue as well? I’ve been seeing that on my Chromecast with Google TV (unfortunately I have no other Android devices to test).

Re: Detroit ATSC 3.0 - Jan 2021
I do not have any issue with the video stuttering on channel 107.1. the video is fantastic. This is using a Mecool KM1. I am using a hardware ethernet connection.
Re: Detroit ATSC 3.0 - Jan 2021
Wondering if the issue could be specific to the Chromecast with Google TV - perhaps a bug in its HEVC decoder. If so, it would at least be helpful if SiliconDust could escalate the issue with Google...
Re: Detroit ATSC 3.0 - Jan 2021
I just updated to 20210118 and was rescanning my channels. All the HEVC channels disappeared, but I do seem to be picking up a bunch more Toledo stations that I wasn't before.
I'll check the antenna sometime soon, but I still get the Detroit HD stations fine.
