Can't scan low VHF channel

Post by yobyot »

Tonight for some reason, the Connect 4K refused to scan a low band VHF channel that a TiVO Roamio and Samsung TV both reported had very high signal quality readings and which were rock-solid visually on both devices.

Anyone have a hint as to what might be a cause? This low-band channel previously had been great in the Connect 4K.

Firmware is latest. And I power-reset the Connect 4K.

Here's the log entry showing the scan just went right by, probably because snq and seq are zeroes. But that's not right as demonstrated by other devices on the same antenna.

....
SCANNING: 79000000 (us-bcast:5)
LOCK: none (ss=100 snq=0 seq=0)
....

Hi,

Try manually tuning this channel:
hdhomerun_config <device id> set /tuner0/channel 5
hdhomerun_config <device id> get /tuner0/status

Or force ATSC 1 vs ATSC 3:
ATSC1: hdhomerun_config <device id> set /tuner0/channel 8vsb:5
ATSC3: hdhomerun_config <device id> set /tuner0/channel atsc3:5

Thanks for the quick reply, Nick.

No joy:

10:37:02 PM> hdhomerun_config 192.168.2.50 set /tuner0/channel 5
10:37:40 PM> hdhomerun_config 192.168.2.50 get /tuner0/status
ch=auto:5 lock=none ss=100 snq=0 seq=0 bps=0 pps=0

and

10:38:30 PM> hdhomerun_config 192.168.2.50 set /tuner0/channel 8vsb:5
10:39:50 PM> hdhomerun_config 192.168.2.50 get /tuner0/status
ch=8vsb:5 lock=none ss=100 snq=0 seq=0 bps=0 pps=0

On the device webpage please enable "Send diagnostic information" (System status page), then run a channel scan from the Channel Lineup page and post back with the Device ID. I will check the scan logs.

Thanks.

Device ID = 10804E10.

This is the problem station: https://www.rabbitears.info/market.php? ... 99#station

WGBH took ~$200M to in the reverse auction/repack, gave themselves big raises while still begging for contributions and then got temporary approval from the FCC to increase from 6.7kW (I fart stronger than that) to 34kW. Other stations, admittedly in UHF and requiring more power, are asking the FCC to license 1000kW.

Your signal levels are way too strong... what is the antenna/cable/amplifier/splitter layout?
