Edited - I noticed that the audio no longer worked either. So comment would now be "updating your HDHR may require a reboot to regain audio and have interlaced content work correctly".
Edit 2 - Still happening. May have been happening the entire time as it looks like my desktop app was switching back to my other tuner.

Title: HDHR Windows Store App 1.1.302.0 no longer handles interlaced channel correctly
KIRO 7/CBS is a 1080i station that was displaying correctly in the HDHomeRun Windows App 1.1.286.0. It just updated to 1.1.302.0 and it is now displaying as 'squished' 1920x540 style content. Another Seattle area user is seeing the same thing with this latest version.

Re: HDHR Windows Store app update broke audio & interlace- reboot fixed
HEVC video playback is hardware accelerated - handled by Windows and your GPU.
What GPU does your system have?

Re: HDHR Windows Store app update broke audio & interlace- reboot fixed
It is a Nvidia 2070 with latest drivers available. It is certainly doing the work as Video Decode load in the teens while none of my cpu cores are doing much of anything.
And it turns out the CBS issue wasn't fixed by the reboot. Editing- I'm not sure it was actually working at all as it seems as though it my have switch to my other HDHR which it might have been doing in the previous app but I can't go back versions so I can't check. Net I can't get it to not be squished so it may never have been rendered correctly.
Is HDHomerun using FFMpeg?
Is there anyone who is receiving a 1080i atsc 3.0 broadcast that isn't seeing is squished in windows?

Re: HDHR Windows Store app update broke audio & interlace- reboot fixed
When an encoder stream is switched from 1080p/60 to 1080i/30, the HD Homerun display squishes the picture. However, the picture remains full screen on a 3.0 TV.
Re: HDHR Windows Store app update broke audio & interlace- reboot fixed
I assume a ATSC 3.0 supporting TV works without issue for audio and video. But my question is specific to the function of the HDHR Windows app where we expect the app to display the correct ratio as the monitor is not going to do anything to the picture.

Well, let me restate what I said beforeCBme wrote: ↑Thu Dec 17, 2020 5:57 pmI assume a ATSC 3.0 supporting TV works without issue for audio and video. With the 3.0 encoder encoding at 1080p/60, the "HDHR Windows app" displays the video full screen
Switching the 3.0 encoder to 1080i/30 causes the screen on the "HDHR Windows app" to squish down.
After Switching the encoder back to 1080p/60 the "HDHR Windows app" display goes back to full screen display.
So yes, the "HDHR Windows app" presently has 1080i issues.
Your assumption that the TV would work correctly is incorrect, although this year is significantly better than the last three years have been. It's still pretty easy to put a 2020 TV on its knees. It is still early days...
Re: HDHR Windows Store app update broke audio & interlace- reboot fixed
Perfect - I am running a 2070 here as well.
Not sure quite yet if the problem is down to Microsoft or NVidia but the HEVC path doesn't support interlaced content.
We may be able to stretch the video as a quick workaround but that is basically bob deinterlacing which doesn't look good.

Just to be clear, is this HEVC "interlaced" content something I should be seeing display correctly on Windows currently (something with my system or our specific broadcast) or is it something that isn't working as desired yet for anyone (due to MSFT/Nvidia/FFMpeg/other)?nickk wrote: ↑Fri Dec 18, 2020 10:35 amPerfect - I am running a 2070 here as well.

Glad to test/try anything that might be helpful along the way.
Clips from our CBS/KIRO broadcast are in this folder if helpful:

edit: I noted that it is also squished on the my Xbox One S
