Four HVEC channels seen:
4.1
23.1
49.1
49.2

On Rolu Ultra:
Playback of all 4 channels show choppiness and artifacts on top section of screen
Channel changing from one HVEC channel to another does not always work. New channel will just fail to load. Sometimes with status bar showing. Other times without status bar showing.

On HDHomerun Windows app on Windows 10:
Playback looks normal. No choppiness nor artifacts.

New Apple TV app has no sound. Very slow to switch channels. ATSC 1.0 works great, just the ATSC 3.0 channels.

On LG TV, things seem to work OK, just very slow channel changes.

iPadPro ATSC 3.0 channels are a no show. ATSC 1.0 channels seem to work fine.

I have been watching Fox this morning on Win10. A couple of times the pic has frozen. Switching to a different channel and back again resolved it, although a couple of times a black screen with an error message popped up. The log shows this entry when it happened:

20201103-13:16:28 HTTP: rejecting request from 192.168.1.28 - no video data
20201103-13:16:28 Tuner: tuner0 http stream ended (requested time reached)

I see these as well. But I cannot tune to them via the HDHomeRun app on my iMac Pro. The tuner status correctly shows pulling them in on channel 0, but I just get a black screen.

I am able to tune to them using the Channels DVR server, and the android shield app. It is jerky and sometime causes the app to exit. The stats using my.hdhomerun show data flow.

Hello.

Like others, I'm now seeing HEVC content on Channel 34 in the Dallas area, but when playing back the Channel 49.1 got this error message using the Windows 10 HD HomeRun player app:

Image

I've been seeing a (no data) message next to some of the four programs on Channel 34 occasionally, although my signal is strong:

Image

My diagnostics are turned on if that helps!

Playback of HEVC content on HD HomeRun Android client stops after a few seconds with "Unable to play channel: No Video Data" message.

Playback of HEVC content on VLC on Windows 10 has a "strobe" effect.

Haven't yet been able to try on LG TV or iPad apps.

I'm getting 83 channels altogether, a couple of them are weak, but reception of the primary Dallas/Fort Worth channels from the antenna farms in Cedar Hill (about 55 miles due south of my location) have strong signals using a dual flat-panel antenna array in the attic of a one-story home.

Now no picture or sound on anything. The new update stopped the picture and sound on iPad, LG, Apple TV and iMac.

Hoping for a new update to get it back.

Yea - Last few weeks was like being grounded from your toys for several weeks.
Strength is now 100/100/100 where it was only 75 back several weeks ago. (I am 25 mi SW of the towers)

I am able to watch/hear all 4 on a win 10, i get ~ 500 ms stumbles every 2 minutes or so.
VLC & HDHomerun views ok (on a mac) but no audio.

Question i have is how to maintain the 1.0/3.0 twins active, for instance 4-1 (on phy ch 34) seems to override any instance of 4-1 (on phy ch 35).
Since the 3.0 is not going though most other things, id like to keep the 1.0, for general viewing, otherwise I might miss a cowboys game.
I do see while scanning they are separated, but when complete, only one remains.

The FOX channel is streaming about 3.5MBit and has plenty of compression artifacts. Disappointing. Maybe when they switch off the 1.0 channel they will up the bitrate a little bit.

As I have seen mentioned elsewhere there is a considerable buffer time before the first frame is displayed in 3.0 channels. v1.0 is 1-2 seconds to the first frame while v3.0 is a good 15 seconds to the first frame.

I basically "lost" my FOX channel now though as the HomeRun hides the 1.0 channel and I do not have a AC-4 audio player in my household. Hopefully we'll get a feature to prefer 1.0 channels soon.

Are all markets using AC-4? I saw some were using AAC. Think the local FOX engineers would switch it over to E-AC-3 or AAC?

Not being able to watch the Cowboys this season sounds like a feature, not a bug.

KSTR was using AAC with their old equipment. It's been AC-4 since they set up the new stuff, and that's what pretty much everyone elsewhere is using.

I know nothing about the different audio types. All I want is to watch tv and get a good picture. I will admit to being interested in new technology...lol.

Will I be able to watch tv and hear the audio on my iPad, iMac, lg tv etc?

I would guess that the hew tv’s with atsc 3.0 would have all the technology to pull in the signal and dis-lay it properly

Who is responsible for making sure I can see and hear atsc 3.0 tv? Is this a silicondust issue?
