Dumb HDHR Servio DVR question!

Post by IRJ »

I am a long time happy SD customer and currently use a Prime and Quattro linked into the latest Nvidia Shield w attached SSD and HDHR DVR software. Works well. And of course I have the annual account at a reasonable $35 p.a.

Today my brand new HDHR $K Servia hardware has arrived and b4 I install on my network I am doing some reading up on this useful forum.
So here is my dumb question:
Will I be able to use the existing account over the 2 separate DVRs?
Any downsides?
Or will I necessarily have to open a new DVR annual account with HDHR?

Any thoughts/guidance would be appreciated. As I said dumb question. LOL.

You can have multiple engines per account. Typically the one with the most space is the one that records.

Your servio (or scribe) should "extend" your (active) account subscription by a year but the year the servio provides isn't an account in the normal sense as it's access period requires that any app report it's DeviceAuth as dvr access is tied to the device. Note I don't know if internally SD is extending the account or delaying the start of the "trial period" of the servio.

Thanks for the answer.

So here is another dumb questions. Just to make sure I have got it right. The existing HDHR DVR software is capable of recording ATSC 1 and ATSC 3 standards i.e. 1080P and 4K?

Yes as it just records bits of the stream. However I have not really heard of a "real" 4k ota channel and atsc 3.0 uses Dolby ac-4 for audio so at this time most likely the recording doesn't play well with most devices (want to say all as far as the app goes)
