Another Portland, OR resident.

I set mine up last night. As far as simply working as a replacement for my HD HomeRun Extend that I was previously using it seems to work fine and I now have 4 tuners instead of simply 2.

However, I can't figure out how to tell that it's pulling in the HEVC channels at all. I never see any indication of them when using the HomeRun app.

When I run a command line scan I get the following but I'll admit I'm not sure how to read it and there's no mention of HEVC/ATCS3 in there:

Code: Select all

Actually nix that, there are 2 LOCK: atsc3 lines in there but it seems to get stuck after that and not pull any of the channels in there.

As stated in the Portland thread... the "fix" should (hopefully) be coming today.

From nickk's responses it seems the channel detection does what was suggested for a tv receiver to quickly scan channels and also usually the tuner requires itself to receive "video" to add it to the scan results and it was ignoring those packets as they were sent to the wrong address (edit: from the tuner's current point of view) as there are other settings a broadcaster can use. From reading that section of what nickk quoted it seems the fix can be quick but I'm a little concerned it may increase scan times.

New firmware did not fix this issue (at least with the Pittsburgh channels)

You might need to also do a channel scan with the new firmware as well.

I've done a channel scan, it still doesn't show any HEVC channels.

Everything is the same. I can see the atsc3 channel through config gui, but I can't view the channel.

I've tried everything I can think of, including tuning by frequency-program with this url:

http://192.168.1.235:5004/auto/ch515000000-5001

Doing this shows an error message in the log:
20201014-23:23:21 Tuner: tuner0 tuning auto:515MHz-5001
20201014-23:23:26 HTTP: rejecting request from 192.168.1.193 - no video data
20201014-23:23:26 Tuner: tuner0 http stream ended (requested time reached)
If there is anything I can do to troubleshoot, let me know. I don't have the "developer" version of the device, so not sure what I can do.

I'm also in the Pittsburgh Area and that latest firmware and rescan did not fix the issue here. When I did the "Detect Channels" from the myhdhomerun login, I see 22.1 as two channels "MyTV22-" and "WPNT" while it is still detecting. The "WPNT" is the ATSC 3.0 feed but after the scan finishes it disappears from the list and only the ATSC 1.0 "MyTV22-" is left and shows as an HD channel (which it is).

I used the "HDHomeRun Config GUI" to verify that it is showing as ATSC 3.0. Interestingly, it shows in the program dropdown of that GUI the three supposed ATSC 3.0 channels (5001: 22.1 WPNT, 5002: 53.1 WPGH, and 5003: 4.1 WTAE) all listed under Channel 21. The WPGH and WTAE both list as "no data" but are ATSC 3.0 feeds.

The signal strength, signal quality, and symbol quality are all listed at 100% in the GUI as well.

Similar situation here in Dallas. With the new update, I can now use the added http-download PLP specify to download the tar/pcap for all the programs on the 3.0 station. But, when I try to play any of the programs via the GUI dropdown, video still does not play.

For the other Pittsburgh users (@Airey001 and @yaks11) - I created a new thread just for Pittsburgh, just so it doesn't get mixed up with other cities. Hopefully we can get some love from SD like Portland just got :)
