List of ATSC 3.0 stations?
Re: List of ATSC 3.0 stations?
For those of you in San Francisco Bay Area, I tried to reach out to most (all?) the major stations and so far ONLY reply I got was from KQED and their response was, "ATSC 3.0 transition is being considered now but isnt on the roadmap until 2022."
Re: List of ATSC 3.0 stations?
Another Seattleite here! (Duvall, actually, but in range of Seattle stations.)
Oddly, this thread claims King 5 switched on ATSC 3.0 a while back. But I didn't get anything on my setup of the new tuner today, just regular stations.

King 5 did do something, though, as previously their signal had gone to hell and it was the one HD station that would often glitch, and now it's back to being as solid as the rest.
Re: List of ATSC 3.0 stations?
Confirmed that king 5 is not ATSC 3 per their engineer, I know they repacked back in october 2019 when did it get better for you? Maybe it's just that it's fall and the trees are losing their leaves?DennyA wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2020 12:26 amAnother Seattleite here! (Duvall, actually, but in range of Seattle stations.)

Re: List of ATSC 3.0 stations?
Thanks for confirming. I'd given up on watching NBC live last year since about the only thing I watch on the network anymore is SNL and the late-night talk shows, so I hadn't even tried until I got my new tuner. So not sure when it got better.
Exciting to hear we'll be able to try the new capabilities in December.

Re: List of ATSC 3.0 stations?
Just heard back from KOFY TV20, "We are currently evaluating an ATSC 3.0 transition with no definitive timeframe. We will be sure to let our viewers know when they can expect an ATSC 3.0 signal."
Re: List of ATSC 3.0 stations?
I posted about this king 5 thing about 5 months back and also got confirmation that it was a false post. I reached out to all the stations and the few that replied said they don't have any near term plans. EDIT: Launch is now Dec 15th. See Seattle/Tacoma thread.DennyA wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2020 9:56 am Thanks for confirming. The way to see if any are doing something is to check the FTC applications. They can't start broadcasting until after they apply and are approved to do so.

Any news for Albuquerque's TV market on ATSC 3.0?
Hopefully sooner the better!

Re: List of ATSC 3.0 stations?
Mobile/Pensacola stations started their ATSC 3.0 transmission today (with hiccups).
WJTC 44.1, WEAR 3.1, and WPMI 15.1 are on RF 35.
WFGX 35.1, WKRG 5.1 and WFNA 55.1 on RF 27. The last 2 have no data as of now.

Seattle, checking in.
4.1 KOMO
5.1 KING
7.1 KIRO
13.1 KCPQ
16.1 KONG
22.1 KZJO
All looking great in the HDHomerun app on Windows, although KIRO is broadcasting a vertically squashed picture at 1920x540. No audio for any of them in VLC. Actually, HDHomerun seems to have crashed while I was typing this. Possibly caused by transitioning to a commercial break.
Edit: Replaced accidental doubled KIRO listing with KCPQ.
Edit: Thanks to kyl416, I've added my upvote to the FFMPEG AC-4 feature request at https://trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/8349

Re: List of ATSC 3.0 stations?
That means they're broadcasting 1080i, which is currently unsupported by some HEVC decoders like FFmpeg, the no audio in VLC (and other open source software like Kodi, Plex and Emby) is because there's currently no open source AC-4 codec.

Re: List of ATSC 3.0 stations?
Can you upvote this bug report too? It's to address the lack of interlaced HEVC support which is affecting 1080i channels like KIRO:redrom wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 1:16 pmEdit: Thanks to kyl416, I've added my upvote to the FFMPEG AC-4 feature request at https://trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/8349

Upvoted it yesterday after seeing it mentioned on AVSForum in a post I only realized this morning was also you. Thanks for marshaling the troops!
Re: List of ATSC 3.0 stations?
Was just about to post this, although I'm not seeing KOMO as HEVC, I can't tune any of them via my mac or my android tv app right now to test.redrom wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 1:16 pm Seattle, checking in.

Only 5.1, 13.1, 16.1 and 22.1 show up on mine today. 4.1 and 7.1 showed up the other day though - so seems things are still in flux.jmcgeejr wrote: ↑Thu Dec 17, 2020 12:19 pmWas just about to post this, although I'm not seeing KOMO as HEVC, I can't tune any of them via my mac or my android tv app right now to test.redrom wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 1:16 pm Seattle, checking in.
