Back to Exit App

Post by GetMatt » Tue Nov 19, 2019 8:39 am

The change to have back exit to app from most places has made the UI cumbersome.

For example when you have scrolled down to the bottom of a list of 50+ recording tasks you can no longer hit back to got to the top menu you have to scroll all the way back up.

I think a better option would be for back/esc to keep you on the same tab, but send you to the top menu. So if you are in tasks and hit back it scrolls all the way to the top and put the cursor on Tasks. Same for Recorded and Discover. Then a second press exits the app.

W/o back taking you to the top menu there are way too many clicks to get around the app now.

Edit: sorry wrong section of the forum, moderator please move to New UI section.

This is exactly what is happening for me in testing on win10. What app are you testing where hitting back from within the list closes the program?

Win10 I haven’t check on other apps. Specifically Xbox with a Talon remote. It does jump up to the top and then a moment later quits to the Xbox main menu.

Weird, I can't replicate a full quit with the Talon remote. For me it jumps to the top, but doesn't quit unless I press "Back" again.

Is it possible that they keyboard is repeating keys quickly. I find that if I hold down the escape key for more than a quick tap, that I often get two steps back almost instantaneously. This is happening across all buttons on my keyboard, so I have to be very careful when I press a button. Perhaps a few milliseconds delay for some key actions might help. I tried changing the key repeat rate in Windows 10, but it made no difference. Still seems to register multiple presses when I intend just one.

This still happening on Xbox. I am in UI version 20191120. I also can’t seems to navigated the settings menu to even turn on send diagnostics.

By clicking on settings I am suddenly stuck and the only way out is the back button to exit the app. Again single back immediately whites the app.

I can replicate not being able to move in the settings screen. I think there's a fix for this, but some server stuff is happening and it might be until Monday or Tuesday before the next beta update.

This issue still persists is there anything else I can do to help on this. I can try turning on send diagnostics today and replicate.

Due to the short work week last week and the moving of some developer servers, it might have gotten lost in the shuffle. It should get straightened out soon.
