Just dreaming out loud here, but the shorter the coax from the antenna, the better the reception. A HDHR mast mounted tuner, powered by Power Over Ethernet (POE), would fit the bill for sure. A plus would be a built in power injector for supplying power to amplified antennas.
Any chance something like this might become real any time soon?

I wouldn't count on it. Just supporting the extreme range of temperatures between "outdoors in Edmonton after an arctic front comes through" and "in an attic in Phoenix in July" would be difficult to impossible, and there's a lot more to it than that.
