8 Missing Channels

Postby nateb » Wed Dec 12, 2018 11:48 am

With regard to the HDHomeRun Premium TV line up, there is an upstream contract dispute relating to Hallmark, Discovery Channel, HGTV, TLC, Food Network, Animal Planet, Travel Channel & OWN.

Our primary focus is our customers. Until this is resolved, Silicondust will issue a $10 credit per month to any affected customers.

We will continue to issue updates as they come.

Now we officially know what's going on! Thank you Nate for letting us all know. No more speculation on our part!

Awesome you're issuing credits.

I guess the only question left, do you for see this being resolved anytime soon?

Thanks for the update and information! I wasn't as worried about this as some others, but hopefully this will handle and stop all the speculation and confusion for others.

I am still happy with the current channel lineup so it's all good for me.

Oh, my... we're closing in on it... I swear...

So, since every mother's son and daughter with a sub to PTV is affected, the cost per month will be $24.99 until further notice, right?

Thank you so much for the additional information. Since it's a contract dispute I imagine this could take a while. Is there any information about when it is expected to be resolved?

Yes, at the moment since pretty much everyone is affected by it, the plan is to apply the credit to everyone, new and old.

Just wondering why an upstream dispute only effects SiliconDust and TikiTV out of the several other Omniverse resellers. Also wondering why it would just get pulled without warning.

Did Omniverse not have the distribution rights after all or is Discovery flexing its corporate goliath muscles here even when the distribution is legit?

For Everyone. No strings. No special conditions.!

For Clarity:
I get a bill at the end of January for $34.99 - with the reduced channels - and you have some 'splainin' to do, Loosy! (just so we're clear)

Thanks for the substantive update nateb! It is good to have some clear background on the issues and players. Hopefully this will get resolved in the very near future.

I was an early adopter for PTV and up until the loss of HGTV followed by the other 7 channels, was relatively happy with the service, Growing Pains and all! We dropped the service after the first week or so and plan to re-up today to have access again to the content you still have.

Looking forward to seeing SD-PTV compete and succeed in this space.

Credit where credit is due. I decided to cancel and asked for a full refund. They responded in a very timely manner and refunded my entire month. If they get everything ironed out with the channels and can get the picture quality up I will be back.
