Mediacom - 50111

Post by spocoeric »

Hello,
HDHomerun connect is not displaying guide data for CBS stations. It's also missing guide data for the ABC (5) and CW (23) stations, although that may be due to the cable company's dispute with Tegna.

8.1 - KCCI
8.2 - MeTV
8.3 - Heroes & Icons

Model: HDHR4-2US
Device ID: 1044484E
Firmware: 20210624

Can I get you to do a diagnostic scan? I think those channels might not be sending PSIP data.
  1. Please go to the http://my.hdhomerun.com/ site
  2. Click your HDHomeRun's device ID
  3. Click System Status
  4. Check the Send diagnostic information box
  5. Go back one page
  6. Click Channel Lineup
  7. Click on Detect Channels
Then reply back, and I can check the log.

Sorry about the delay. The cable company isn't sending proper channel metadata, so the channels are showing up as "unknown" and being assigned in the 5000 channel block. The way the HDHomeRun software works is that it needs that channel metadata to properly work. What's odd is that most channels do have that metadata, so it's possible that Mediacom might care enough to fix this if we reach out to them. I will send an e-mail to them and see what they say.

I wouldn't be so sure about Mediacom caring enough to fix it. They push their rental Tivo boxes and make it near impossible to use user-provided equipment. But I appreciate the effort and look forward to hearing the response, if you get one! :-)

Not the least bit surprised that there has been zero response from Mediacom. They are the worst. :-)
