All channels - "Guide Name" = Unknown

Post by ObB » Tue Nov 05, 2019 4:33 pm

All channels have "Guide Name" = Unknown, and no guide data is available.

The HDHomeRun Setup program finds and fills in "Guide Number" with the correct channel numbers, and all channels play properly but the "Guide Name" for every channel is "Unknown" and no guide data is available.

Device ID is 10611873, "HDHomeRun CONNECT DUO" with Firmware Version 20190621 ("Firmware Upgrade" says "Up to date").
Service is "Digital Cable", "Broadcast Basic" from Optimum in Rockland County, NY (https://www.optimum.net/cdn/static.tvli ... ckland.pdf)

This was working until recently - a few weeks ago, though not sure exactly when.

Optimum has stopped sending PSIP data on clear QAM channels, resulting in the channels not having names and numbers. Without this data, we cannot map guide listings. This has been rolling out to different parts of their service area since July or so.

Well, the channel *numbers* are found correctly ... (the numbers in "Guide Number" that is - the "Tune" numbers appear to be Optimum specific muxes)

That, combined with my zip code should, at least in theory, be able to find guide info. Any chance of a work around for missing PSIP data? (I also use tvheadend that gets its EPG data from elsewhere, so it's not essential for me, but it would be nice to see a fix)

For guide data from sd, the channel name (and non-5000 virtual channel number) must come from the device thus must be picked up from the psip data during the scan... they don't use zipcodes. There are 3rd party programs that don't rely on guide data from sd.
