I have 2013 F model and when press source, select the HD Home Run icon, I can watch all channels, including DRM, from my Home Run Prime. My 2015 J Model doesn't let me view DRM channels. Do 2014 H models allow you to view DRM? my F model blu ray not working. looking to replace. I think the blu ray player allowed you to connect to home run prime in same manner so would prefer to get one that allowed DRM for use in another location. I know I saw this in a thread somewhere, but can't find here, or on the green button forums either. can't remember where I saw that?
edit. I think maybe I have things wrong. I just checked my F model (2013) TV and I couldn't get DRM channels. I can't on the J model (2015) either. But I do get them on my N model (2018). I thought this was something that used to work but they stopped supporting, but that doesn't appear to be the case since newest model works. strange that the F model shows channel icons for drm channels, but they won't play. The J model doesn't even show the channel icons for drm channels? I think channels to show, are determined by setting up on the silicone dust windows app. if have channel checked, it should appear in "all channels" folder. and if mark it as favorite it will appear in "favorite channels" folder.

I don't believe samsung TV's supported dtcp-ip (via dlna) until the K series which would be required for DRM content (some of their dvd players did prior to K series TVs).
Re: which samsung TV support DRM over DNLA?
Correct, F models, I have 5 of them (F71900) at home, are useless as it doesn't support the encryption required for DRM viewing. Not to mention their picture quality is atrocious. J models I have is the base model so it doesn't even support DLNA IIRC. The only later model Samsung I have is 40MU6290 which does support DRM viewing. But I use Android TV boxes anyway because DLNA viewing is too cumbersome.

Normal threads get purged off the server if they don't get any new replies for a while (after 90 days I think). If there's any info on the forum that you think is useful you might want save it locally.

DRM wouldn't be casted... as mentioned android tv boxes are a good option (my favorite 2 right now are the new chromecast with Google tv and the tivo stream 4k but did not try latest firmware for it that some are reporting audio problems)... the Nvidia shield is also a good pick but more expensive. Non-android I would suggest an Xbox one. I also suggest having different ones/brands available as occasionally a specific box may have issues and in some cases may be a particular release or firmware that has issues.
Amazon does not have the protections necessary to make sure the box isn't rooted and is a trusted environment unlike real android devices.

Before you posted, I went and tried to cast a drm and found it didn't work. So you are right on that. Man they are strict with that DRM! When I bought the FireTV stick, I got it cause I wanted Slingplayer app (NOT Sling TV). At the time, Android TV had it ( I think Roku and Shield ) and FireTV. At the time chromecast seemed useless to me as I used Miracast (I have samsung phone and TV's) But now I just see that the chromecast with Google TV is more like FireTV and not just for casting. It does have Slingplayer app, But on the Google store, it didn't list HD Home Run as an app, and several threads on here and elsewhere say it has to be sideloaded? Not very straightforward process. Is that still true? If so, why not downloadable form play store? But if I got one and loaded the app, it would play DRM? Other differences from the FireTV? I guess, besides getting DRM, what other benefits of it over FireTV?
Re: which samsung TV support DRM over DNLA?
You don't have to side load it at all. It is just there is no Play Store app (the feature is still there but integrated into the new launcher). So, find it is a little bit more effort. You can install it remotely from a PC using play store web page as well.
Re: which samsung TV support DRM over DNLA?
The Apps tab is now the Play Store.

So this works for DRM, nothing else needed? Would the LAN adapter I have for fireTV stick work with it? It plugs into FireTV stick via micro USB. The ethernet cable plugs into it and it also has female micro USB where the power adapter plugs in. I am wired pretty well so prefer that as my wireless isn't great.

I don't know about the LAN adapter but my Chromecast plays DRM channels with the HDHomeRun app over wifi without any issues. Just be sure to get the new "Chromecast with Google TV". The older Chromecast models won't work.hammerash wrote: ↑Sun Feb 21, 2021 6:04 pm So this works for DRM, nothing else needed? Would the LAN adapter I have for fireTV stick work with it? Re: which samsung TV support DRM over DNLA?
Chromecast with Google TV only has a single USB-C connection for both power and USB functionality. So, if you want to use external ethernet adapter, you need get one that has USB-C PD power pass through. Some of such adapter need more power than the power adapter come with the dongle can handle.hammerash wrote: ↑Sun Feb 21, 2021 6:04 pm So this works for DRM, nothing else needed? Of course, your microUSB adapter will be useless for this.
Re: which samsung TV support DRM over DNLA?
It might work with a micro USB to USB-C adapter, but this is also an option: https://store.google.com/us/product/chr ... pter_gen_2
