I'm having some strangeness with my DVR. Would someone from SD be so kind as to take a look at my diagnostics and let me know if it indicates that the disk might be beginning to fail, please? My DVR goes missing every once in a while, and I'm having frequent video freezes while watching Live TV. The disk in question is a USB3.0 drive connected to my Shield Pro 2017. Thanks in advance.

Possible disk failure?

Re: Possible disk failure?
In the past 24 hours there was one spike where it took a little over 3 seconds to write to the drive, which isn't good, but the rest of the time shows read/write times are fairly normal. That one 3-second write also should have been smoothed out thanks to the new write-queue in the updated DVR software.
There is another error that is concerning that might explain this. Nick is looking into it.

Re: Possible disk failure?
Thanks, Ned. The DVR went away a couple of hours ago and hasn't come back. I can read from the USB disk, but the log file suggests that it can't write to it. Can you see that in the diagnostics you receive?

Diagnostics show live tv recording and streaming ok.

Re: Possible disk failure?
Thanks for looking, Nick. But I'm seeing a number of these in the current log. The last one at 3:01:07 appears to be the last entry before it stopped logging, and roughly the same time the DVR went away. What do you make of these?

Re: Possible disk failure?
Your Android system is only getting 4MB/s write speeds and is sometimes stalling writes for a number of seconds.
What kind of disk is it?
Also look out for the Android update we submitted today.

Re: Possible disk failure?
It's one of the WD Passport USB3.0 external disks. Sorry, I don't have the model number at the moment. So are you saying that the disk isn't able to accept the writes fast enough from the Shield?
The disk had been working fine for a couple of years, and this issue just started in the past couple of days. So that's why I suspected that the disk may be ready to fail. In anticipation of that happening, I've ordered a 4TB WD surveillance-rated disk along with a USB docking enclosure for it to replace the WD Passport.
