Currently I have HDHR DVR installed on the same Windows 7 machine as WMC. As I preparing to permanently retire my WMC, I decided to move DVR to another spare PC. I have formatted the PC (running another Win7 WMC) and installed the latest Windows 10 Pro on it. Installed HDHR DVR software and unchecked record button on the old DVR machine. Also copied over all the existing recordings.
Now the weird part: HDHR apps can find and use the new DVR just fine but I can never get my.hdhomerun.com web page to list the DVR no matter what I did (turn firewall on or off, reinstall DVR software etc.). Does anyone know why?
Weird problem with DVR installation on Windows 10
Re: Weird problem with DVR installation on Windows 10
Is local IP x.x.x.160 the new DVR record PC?
Does it show on my.hdhomerun.com if you use a different PC?

Hi Nick,
No, that's the old recording PC I'm moving off. The new PC will be xxx.xxx.xxx.75. Yes, I have tried all my PCs and different browsers.

Also, the new 1030 beta installer has a bug that if you let it to stop the recording service for installation, it always end up with the service disabled.
Re: Weird problem with DVR installation on Windows 10
One of the reason I'm moving DVR to a new PC is that I encountered couple instances where the DVR will lock up with PC's HDD activity LED stay lit. This usually happens after I deleted a recording from Windows or Androis Apps. I have to force shutdown the recording PC to recover it.
Re: Weird problem with DVR installation on Windows 10
Today, I installed 1030 record beta on my Windows Home Server 2011 machine. Same results. It won't show up in the my.hdhomerun.com list but apps will recognize it just fine. I turned off the Win10 record engine and switched over to this new one (x.x.x.249).

Can you please run regedit and browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Silicondust\HDHomeRun\DVR.
Check that there is an entry StorageID with a GUID number.

Re: Weird problem with DVR installation on Windows 10
Hi Nick,
Only the original recording PC (Win7 WMC) has the StorageID entry. Both the Win10 and WHS2011 new installs don't have this entry.

Re: Weird problem with DVR installation on Windows 10
That would be the problem.
Is the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Silicondust\HDHomeRun\DVR path there with things like RecordPath?

Re: Weird problem with DVR installation on Windows 10
Yes, record path entries are there. They record just fine.
Should I randomly generate a StorageID and put in here or copy the old one over?

Re: Weird problem with DVR installation on Windows 10
I would generate a new one as there have been some issues when there are 2 that have the same number on the same network and though you probably don't intend on using the other engine perhaps one day it starts up.
Re: Weird problem with DVR installation on Windows 10
The storage ID is supposed to be generated automatically by either the installer or the record engine. Neither did its job. I have no problem generating one but I'd rather SD fix their software at this time. My recording runs just fine so far.
