Long press to skip through recordings

Post by G-- »

Hello. Just wondering if there are plans to restore the lost functionality of long pressing to the right to quickly advance through recordings? It worked so well before the ui update. I wanted to get to the last hour of a 4 hour golf tournament, now requires clicking to the right 90 times.

Why are you not using up?

The issue is not everything supports long press including the remote sending or not sending multiple clicks.

Didn’t know about up lol. So up is 10 minute skips, that should be fine, not as good as the long press functionality we had before but will suffice. Thanks for the tip! :D

On many new Harmony remotes, long press of a button sends different command (or same command but you don't get the long press part). So, long press is a bad idea. Up and down buttons are fine for quick jump forward and backward.

On the Windows 10 App while viewing Live TV, holding down the left mouse button while the mouse pointer is on a channel selector button causes only 1 advancement of the Slice Program Guide, thus requiring many clicks to advance the Guide through a day or two. But on the Android App while viewing Live TV, holding down the "Right-Directional" button on the FireTV remote causes the Guide to advance continuously. Can we get continuous Guide advancement implemented on the Windows 10 app?

Is there any technical reason why we can't have the typical "click anywhere on the progress bar" functionality in order to go directly to that point? Various glitches sometimes cause the HDHR app to suddenly skip to the end of a recording, and even with the up/down 10 min shortcut, it can be an annoying pain to find your way back to the correct place in a recording. The unofficial Kodi plugin has this "random access progress bar" (RAPB) functionality and it is so much more convenient to use than farting around with the fwd/back button clicks.

It's on the list of things we want to implement eventually.
