I'm trying to set up my hdhomerun to stream my channels outside of the network. How do I create m3u channels and have them be accessible outside of the LAN?
When I copy the channel link from the web interface and paste that link into VLC, it plays the channel fine (within the network)
However, when I try that outside the network it does not work. I replace the local IP address with the WAN IP address and I forwarded port 5004.

I assume by outside your network you also mean being away from it. Generally TTL is 3 so usually you either use a vpn into something at the location (usually your same lan but some add an extra hop to keep your lan further isolated) or have a server/program to act as a proxy, or have a router that can change such ttl.
