Migrate DVR from PC to NAS

Post by brianwech » Thu Mar 05, 2020 7:14 pm

I'm presently running my DVR on a Windows 7 PC and want to migrate to using a Western Digital PR4100 NAS. How do I go about moving my existing recordings as well as my Tasks (scheduled recordings) from my PC to my PR4100? Thanks in advance.

Install the DVR on the NAS, turn it off on the PC, then move over all the recordings to the recording directory on the NAS. Recording tasks are stored in the cloud so you don't have to worry about that, and there's no special process to make the DVR recognize other recordings besides just putting them in there directory.

The information on recording tasks is 'personally identifiable' information that give s a lot of insight into viewing habits. I don't see it specifically mentioned in the privacy statement. Does Silicondust currently sell such information or have plans to do so in the future?
