How stop HDhomerun DVR from Recording same Sports show twice

Post by Burger233 » Tue Jan 21, 2020 12:32 pm

HDHomerun DVR with MCEBuddy. A football game team is setup to record a specific team for Current Season only. MCEBuddy removes commercials- and moves converted file to another location- then the original file is deleted. If the game is re-shown at a later time, it is then recorded again.

On another machine using Windows 8.1 and Windows Media Center using the identical MCEBuddy setup, the first game is somehow marked as being Viewed, and it is not recorded a second time.

Ideas?

To not record again the Record Engine must be able to see the file... what many do with mcebuddy is leave a file with just the metadata in the original location (of course that will list as a show to play). If you are keeping the metadata intact, just make sure it is in a location the engine can see it.

I believe that when HDHomerun DVR records a show, it only records a single file- the .mpg file. I do not see a small metadata file that I can leave.

It is embedded at the beginning of the file. You can either just truncate the original file (from memory a little less than around 12KB, but that could be wrong), or you can copy just those first few kilobyes, or you can create or use one of the 3rd party utilities that manages metadata. I suspect most people just truncate the file after copying it elsewhere.

The metadata is in the first 12032 bytes of the file.
