Can't Install on macOS Catalina

Post by neil459 » Sun Dec 15, 2019 8:14 am

Get the following error after download when clicking on the update file.
“HDHomeRun Installer.pkg” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.

This software needs to be updated. Contact the developer for more information.

This item is on the disk image “hdhomerun_mac_20190815beta1.dmg”. Safari downloaded this disk image yesterday at 4:32 PM from forum.silicondust.com.
macOS 10.15.2 (19C57)

Just to play it safe (I doubt there is an issue), go ahead and delete that file and then download this one: https://download.silicondust.com/hdhome ... c_beta.dmg

Then right-click the .dmg file (or press the command key while clicking) and select "Open" from the context menu.

Still gave the error, but allowed me to select to install anyway. So is the issue that double click does not work and right click does?

Thank you for the quick fix.

Apple's default security settings are getting more cautious, which is not a bad thing, and they still allow people to bypass it when they need to. Eventually we'll probably get the viewer app in the Mac App Store just to make it easier, but betas will likely need that manual "are you really sure?" confirmation for install.

I was able to get the MAC beta software installed and running.
DRM is not working.
What needs to happen to get DRM working?
