Unable to Play Channel: End of Stream

Unable to Play Channel: End of Stream

Seeing this quite a bit. I just enabled diagnostics. I can report back next time it happens if you need any data on it.

Is this server side or beta UI? Would I gain stability turning off beta?

I have the same problem too and it is getting worse. If I let my DVR pause for a minutes and queue some it helps some but eventually this error returns after some run time (say 30 minutes).

I'm getting more of the End of Stream errors recently myself. I've got Spectrum and their signal is glitchy at times. I'll get some quick pixelation on all my TVs at the same time lasting less than a second or so, including some TVs that are not playing content from HDHR software, so I know it's the incoming signal at fault. However, when this happens, I get the End of Stream error on the TVs playing live TV from the HDHR app, and will not recover without intervention. To get rid of the error, I have to change channels in the app and then go back to the channel I was watching that threw the error. Can we get a change to the HDHR app to recover automatically from these momentary signal glitches without having to manually intervene, please? WMC is barely phased by these glitches, but HDHR goes brain-dead from them.

End of stream indicates that the app stopped getting data from the device/DVR. This could be due to the signal going out or a problem with the network or some sort of security program interfering with the flow of data.

It would be nice if the stream began playing again automatically when the signal returns instead of throwing this error. Perhaps you could limit this self-recovery to outages/disturbances lasting less than, say, a second or two?

It's supposed to restart automatically. Might be a bug. We're investigating.

Thanks. I've never had it auto-recover on my Shield.

The bug preventing auto-restart has been found and fixed in early access. Please let us know if you're still seeing issues with it.

Thanks, Jason. By the way, when you say "auto-restart", you don't mean that the app will auto-restart, do you? I'm hoping the stream will just start playing again without an app restart.

Right, it restarts playback of the stream, not restarts the app.

Is there anyway to make it so that the message can go away too?

I agree. Getting the message to go a away would be a great feature. Here's a picture of the message overlaid on a perfectly good live TV stream:

Having same problem, but restarting the stream.

Jason - I'm not sure if this is related to my previous post whereas I switched CableCards. Or was my issue resolved and now I am where these others are at?

I did enable diagnostics and posted in that thread the details.

Thanks!

I'm seeing this again, or 'still'. Now I get the error overlaid on live TV; TV is playing but the error is displayed over the video currently playing.

I fall asleep watching TV and wake up to this. More than once in recent days.

Devs are on it, for some reason the error message shows up even though the video stream recovers, should be fixed soon.
