Are my recordings hidden?

Post by jachin99 » Sat Nov 02, 2019 6:33 pm

I have a wired issue with the hdhr dvr service. I set my recordings to a particular location via hdhr setup. I can view them in hdhr view but I can't find them in my recording folder or anywhere else in my windows file system. What am I doing wrong?

Your recording location appears to still be the default location, C:\Users\Public\Recorded TV\HDHomeRun\

That's strange because hdhr setup shows E\recorded tv. I checked both locations but don't see my recordings in file explorer but I can see them in hdhr view. Any other ideas? I have tried enabling hidden folders and showing protected files

I'm assuming your DVR is connecting from the same internet IP address that you are posting from, but just to be sure, can you tell me the Device ID printed on the bottom of your HDHomeRun?

The logs confirm it is recording to C:\Users\Public\Recorded TV\HDHomeRun\ on a PC with IP addresses ending in .1

Any ideas why the files aren't showing in explorer? Is the .1 address public or private? Can you on me the exact address? I also tried navigating to that directory via the command line. I used the DIR command and didn't see my recordings listed

Most likely it is a different machine. If you are on any of the versions released since the scribe/servio came out, when you have multiple engines only one will record (usually the one with the most space). Does the ip of that machine end in .1?

I'll have to look on some other PCs I guess. I don't know the address for every pc. This recording was from a prime that is a few years old

192.168.142.1
192.168.52.1
192.168.29.43

Thanks for your help and I did find them. Now I need to change my recording machine but I'm not sure how to do that.

And it's unrelated to my recordings but only one of those up addresses looks to be from my router.

The other 2 IPs would most likely be from virtual interfaces installed by VMWare, VirtualBox, or some other VM program.

To disable the DVR on the PC you don't want it on, open the HDHomeRun Setup program, go to the DVR tab, uncheck the box to use it for recording, and click OK. On the PC you do want to record on, open the HDHomeRun Setup program, go to the DVR tab, check the box to use the PC for recording, set your recording location, and click OK.

That explains the network interfaces. I forgot I ever installed VMWare on a laptop. I unchecked the use this pc for recordings box on all but one PC. My one PC however, still has an issue where it won't record. I checked the HDHR record service, which is set to start automatically, and for whatever reason I can't start it. Its giving me an error code of 1503. So I guess its good that I have a direction to pursue now but I'm not exactly sure how to get that service started. Thanks.

What's the IP address of the PC you want it to run on? You should not need to adjust the settings in the services page; HDHomeRun Setup should do everything on its own.
