PBS programs recording same new episode twice

Post by cncb » Wed Oct 09, 2019 1:40 pm

I have the PBS programs of This Old House and Austin City Limits both set to record "Current Season". Each episode is getting recorded twice even though they have the same season and episode numbers and titles?

That is usually a guide issue but often is "correct" for pbs particularly if you have multiple pbs stations.

A FirstAiring will always record and typically the various pbs stations all get their own FirstAiring. On occasion there are guide issues that mark subsequent airings as "new"

These were recorded on the same PBS station. I am surprised there is not a episode number check to avoid duplicates.

Check to see if they are both marked as a FirstAiring (retrieve recorded_files.json)... this feature has saved me at least 30 times when for some reason or another they delayed an airing as though it recorded in the original slot, something else was on at the time, then when they really did air again it recorded the real new episode... it is better to err on the side of recording than to not record something it should.

If for some reason they are not both marked as a first airing, what station and what times did they record from?
