Movies not showign under Recorded/Movies

Post by GGRussell » Wed Oct 09, 2019 11:54 am

I recorded couple of Hallmark movies for my sister and they don't show in the Recorded Tab under 'Movies'. They are listed under 'All Recordings' and ' Shows'. Both were on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.

Matchmaker Mysteries S01E01 20190929 [20191007-0100]
Ruby Herring Mysteries S01E02 20190929 [20190930-0100]
Odd that they have series and episode numbers since they usually only show one or two a year. The way guide treats these I doubt this is just the way it is even though they are 'movies'.

It looks like all of the HMM mystery series are listed that way, which means it's an intentional decision by the network. Presumably it's for DVR purposes, you schedule it once and you don't have to remember to go back and schedule the next one months later when it airs.

The newer Hallmark Mystery movies are listed by the guide provider as a series, with each movie in the series as a different episode. The episodes are numbered sequentially, with the first aired movie in a series being episode 1, and so on.

Older movies (say, prior to 2010 or thereabouts), or those that are one-offs, are described as a movie rather than a series. However, those that are planned to have multiple movies following a character (Murder, She Baked, Mystery 101, Chronicle Mysteries, etc.), they are categorized as episodes in a series. (Think of it as similar to books in series, where the book series equates to the character/theme and each book is an episode.)

In any case, the information about series vs. movies comes from Gracenote, SD's guide provider. (DirecTV also uses Gracenote, and their guide/recordings are labeled in the same way.)
