There's a lot of network packet loss happening between the HDHomeRun and the NAS. How are the connected network-wise?

Hi Jason - appreciate the insight. Really want this to go back to normal. The 2 HDHRs are hooked into my router directly with the WDMyCloud hooked into a switch that the router leads to.

All networked.

This morning I replaced the network cable on the WDMyCloud and 1 of the HDHRs. Whenever I had to reboot this particular HDHR it sometimes would take me 3-6 reboots to get it to come back properly. Wondering if it's related so I replaced that cable. The other one never has an issue.

Any other ideas? I will continue to monitor of course.

Still a lot of packet loss even after your post. Try both the HDHomeRun and the My Cloud on the switch, and both on the router, and see if one or the other works better. Might be one of them is failing.

Hi Jason - you are correct, still seeing the issue. I have now moved all 3 pieces of hardware (HDHRs and DVR) to the same switch.

Please let me know what you see on your end. If you and I continue to see the issue, the next step will be to remove one of the HDHRs.

Thanks

Nothing has recorded yet. Can you record or watch whatever is on NBC HD right now?

Hi Jason - I just started NBC live right now. I'll leave on for quite a bit.

Thanks

Still some packet loss. It's happened on both HDHomeRun devices, so I don't think it's device-specific. The switch is starting look kind of suspect though.

How do you explain why it does it on certain channels but not others? For example, I watch shows on the History Channel and it never happens there.

Hi Jason - since we moved all 3 devices to the same switch we have much less issue. There is the occasional stutter but the system so far has always rebounded gracefully. Going to keep my eye on it but seems promising! Thanks for all your help.

The higher the data rate of the channel, the more likely you are to see network issues. Your local channels are still MPEG2 and are transmitted at 2-3x the rate of the "cable" channels, which are H.264, so the local channels are more likely to see issues. The cable channels are all heavily compressed and use much less data, but there is a wide range within them. Something like a football game on ESPN where the camera is always moving might be encoded at twice the data rate of say CNN where it's just a still shot of people sitting at a desk talking.

Jason - the problem is back and it's worse! Now it just ends the stream and says stream has ended.

New steps taken -
Hooked up HDHRs AND DVR to different switch dedicated to only the 3 devices that is hooked directly into the main Orbi router.

I would say as of 920am EDT you can view the stream and I am outputting and let me know what you see.

Thanks!

Looks like diagnostics was turned off. Just put it back on. Re-running. Sorry.

Lastly Jason - I just tried every combination possible of just "one" device at a time. They all still ultimately end with the Unable to play channel message.
