Duplicate Games Recording

Post by jbahlman@gmail.com » Mon Sep 16, 2019 10:35 am

I have a team task setup for the nationals set to record all the time. Yesterday it recorded on both MASN and TBS at the same time. I have TBS unstarred.
Shouldn't this be detected as the same game and only record one?

Here is what it says in the logs at the time it started:

20190915-13:50:16 Recording: record MLB Baseball - Atlanta Braves at Washington Nationals 20190915 [20190915-1730] on 577 (20 14)
20190915-13:50:16 Recording: record MLB Baseball - Atlanta Braves at Washington Nationals 20190915 [20190915-1730] on 552 (20 6)

I understand if the start time is different like happens with MNF(8:15pm) and local broadcast(8:30pm). But these are exactly the same time and name.

It did only record one. The log lines you have there are from the task download hours before the recording started. The DVR receives a list of all potential recordings scheduled for that time, then makes the decision itself on what to record. MASN has the higher priority (14) so it was recorded in preference to TBS (6).

Sorry i misunderstood the logs, you are correct.

On a side note, does watching something live open a different tuner from the same event being recorded?

The DVR can split any stream to do 2 things, either live and a recording or two recordings.

I am recording the Packers/Cowboys on channel 64.1. I am also watching it live. I see that both tuner 0 and tuner 2 are tuned to channel 64.1. The device is a Scribe Quatro.

Is this expected?

Please enable the sending of diagnostic data on the System Status page, reproduce the issue, and reply back with the device ID for your HDHomeRun and the time you reproduced and we will check the logs.

This issue reproduced again with both tuner 0 and tuner 2 tuned to channel 12.1.

I had enabled the sending of diagnostic information and noticed the issue at 4:27 EST.

The device ID is 152040A0.

The Scribe is setup to record all NFL games with the end time extended by an hour. There was an early and late game on channel 12.1 so that may have something to do with it. I was also watching 12.1 when I noticed the issue.

That's 3 things (2 recordings plus live) so it will need 2 tuners. You can avoid that by watching the recording of the game rather than live TV on that channel.

Can the HDHR app be changed so that, if you tune to a channel that is currently being recorded, it automatically plays the recording for you to watch from the current point in time? That's the way WMC works.
