Where can I find Signal Strength?

Post by Joebob256 » Thu Sep 05, 2019 10:25 pm

1. I'm running Windows 10 and have ran the Detect Channels on MyHDHomeRun.com Channel Lineup and don't see the signal strength there.
2. I've also ran the Scan for the digital antenna HDHomeRun Setup windows program and don't see the signal strength?
3. I also can't find it in the Windows application for watching and recording HDHomeRun.
4. I've read the FAQs and searched the forums.

Where can I find the signal strength info? Thanks!

Download and install the HDHomeRun windows exe application.

Navigate to the install directory and run the "HDHomeRun_Config_GUI" application.

Select a tuner and "Seek" the RF channels to display the signal strength for received RF channels.

You can also get a "moment in time" signal strength readout by typing the tuner's IP address in a web browser and selecting Tuner Status and then the tuner number you're interested in. A page refresh will give you the latest signal strength reading.

I had a couple of shows that didn't record. When I investigated I couldn't tune in 5-6 channels. I ran the detect channels and the channels were gone. A day later when I ran the detect channels the channels showed up. I was thinking maybe the signal strengths were weak and I might need a better antenna. I checked the signal strengths and it all looks good. Maybe the antenna problem was on the TV station end. Thanks - saved me from needlessly upgrading my antenna!

Dozens of stations across AL, eastern TN, northern GA, SC, NC, and VA changed frequencies on Friday as part of the TV repack. If you are in one of these areas that's probably what it was.

And here in East TN, three stations were off the air for 3 days and one was still missing this afternoon.
