New Version Problems

Post by TOF » Tue Sep 03, 2019 5:39 pm

I'm running Windows 10 1903, Build 18362 on two main machines, with HDHomerun Prime 13178E09 HDH 20190621, Gear shows version 20190830 and have started sending Diagnostic information that I hope can clear up a very repeatble log entry as follows:

20190901-00:58:49 Recording: starting new file Live channel 82 b1ac3841
20190901-00:58:49 Recording: no tuners available to record Live channel 82 b1ac3841
20190901-00:58:49 Playback: Live channel 82 failed to start: 811 Content Protection Required
20190901-00:58:59 Recording: stop Live channel 82 b1ac3841 (result = 0x0000)

BTW I don't even get a log entry on the Recorded TV folder anymore on one machine where Setup is set to Record to this machine and folder is accepted in setup with 300 Gb space.

I've never had a problem with not recording (no DRM playback, as expected) any thing until I downloaded the new versions of HDH and the new DVR. As an experiment I rebooted to Win 8.1 and ran and recorded this same channel while the game was still on and it did it perfectly through the Prime connection.

Can I Please have the "old" versions back because they WORKED. Discover does nothing for finding what I'm looking for. The "red button" doesn't do anything except with ESC it shows your DVR is ready and that is all!

Before this UI every thing worked!

It looks like you have three Windows PCs with the DVR software running, and one or two of them is running older DVR software. If you want to run the DVR software on each, you can, but make sure each one is up to date with the Windows Installer: https://download.silicondust.com/hdhome ... indows.exe

Only one copy of the DVR software is needed, and will serve the entire network. You can disable a DVR installation by opening the HDHomeRun Setup utility on that PC, clicking on the "DVR" tab, and unchecking "use this PC for recordings".

The reason for the apparent three Windows 10 computers is that I rebooted one machine from version 1903 to 1709 in an attempt to see if I could get anything to work with the DVR. It didn't help. BTW, does the new HDH not make Log files anymore because I don't get any anymore. Back in the "good old days" tapping the Red Dot would start a recording and also show by a red/orange dot that it was recording. Now Nothing and it is accurate becaue it is not recording!

Viewing selected channels is still good although the new UI seems awkward with the flyouts and lack of response to some of the features of the old WMC controller that used to work but I can live with that but a non working recorder is strange indeed.

The DVR should still log to the recording directory, although recent versions now delete logs older than 10 days.

It's normal to get the "no tuners available" message on DRM channels. The DVR knows they are DRM and that it does not support DRM so it just skips the process and reports it's not available, and the app moves on to the next channel.
