HDHomeRun\ log files

Post by strou » Tue Jul 09, 2019 6:39 pm

It looks like the DVR service writes log entries to the recording directory every 2 minutes, one new log file per day. I've searched around a bit, but I haven't been able to find anything regarding this.. Any way to dial that back a bit or disable it? That's a lot of logs, the constant drive access prevents the NAS from sleeping. That plus all the files it creates.

Not currently... it has been said it is being looked at, especially since the servio/scribe don't, but one of the reasons for keeping it around so long is that the drive can't sleep, otherwise it takes too long to get ready when the engine has to write.

Hi,

It is important for the drives not to spindown as the spinup time is too slow to provide a good user experience.

BTW - the next release of the record engine will auto-delete log files older than 10 days.

Thanks! Hopefully I can remember to delete my systemd timer service definition.

yay!!
But better than delete - can you create a monthly archive?
That way if I'm on vacation for 2 weeks and something went wrong I still have the log.. Then it's up to me to delete the archive.
