View app not deinterlacing 1080i

Post by ota » Fri Jul 05, 2019 11:13 am

Currently running WMC + HDHR3-US Dual on Win8.1 Pro with onboard Intel Graphics 2000. 1080i channels look great in WMC. I tried the latest HDHomeRun Windows View app (20190621 and 2 previous releases) and 1080i channels are not deinterlacing meaning there are horizontal lines showing on motion. Should this be happening?

"VIEW" app hasn't changed in years on win 7/8.1 and depends on how the pc is configured (typically uses 32 bit vlc)

AMD GPUs older than the current Vega series don't support deinterlacing with the Direct3D 11 rendering components. WMC uses the older Direct3D 9 rendering components.

Upgrading to a Nvidia GPU such as the GTX1050 should fix the problem and give you hardware HEVC support if you upgrade to Windows 10 in the future.

Note I have Intel 2000 graphics rather than AMD but I see the 2000 is in the same boat as it doesn't support Direct3D 11. Thanks for the explanation.
