So perhaps it's a weird case by case situation with Samsung TVs.
Samsung TV's have a long history of (what appears to the rest of us as) weird choices/cases. They are not alone in each model being different, but Samsung seems to excel at it.

Oh, that's great news! So perhaps it's a weird case by case situation with Samsung TVs.
Well,
It works on my HU8550 as well, but only when I set the Roku Audio setting manually to Dolby Digital, when in auto mode it will not have audio. Roku Express+ via HDMI. Roku Express+ has composite audio/video as well as HDMI. I know that this has caused audio issues with the YouTubeTV app on Roku, firmqare patches were needed for the Express+. I am not sure if that caused audio loss through HDMI or just composite, but I am sure someone at Roku would.

timing is good for me...

https://www.silicondust.com/introducing ... roku-beta/

i just bought a 65" TCL with Roku4 built in

and a fire stick 4K which fails to run HDHR without going out of sync :(

so at least now I'll be able to use my HDHR investment on the Roku4

eventually...
