Audio/Video Studder on Shield

Post by handyd » Sun Apr 14, 2019 7:23 pm

I never watch live tv, but when I do, I get micro studders of the audio and video on my Nvida Shield. The audio blanks out for about 1/2 second to 1 second and maybe a couple of times in a row. For example. while I was watching GoT, it happened about 10 times. I don't have this issue with recorded tv.

Any thoughts?

Curious as to if it happens only on live TV or also when playing back recorded shows.

Do you have other devices and/if so does it happen on all of them or only on this Shield?

How is the Shield connected? WIFI or direct wired? Could it be your WIFI signal strength?

Basic questions but not much to go on yet from your description....

I'm working with Support, but to answer your questions:

1) Only live TV. No issues with recorded.
2) I haven't noticed the issues on the rare times I watch it on my windows 10 computer.
3) Connected via Wifi. I doubt its the wifi. i don't have any issue streaming Plex, HBO Go, Amazon 4k, Netflix or Recorded TV on the HDHomerun app. (Update: Wired does the same thing)

I'm having the same stuttering problem with live TV really bad watching the Red Sox.
Same set up,Wired Ethernet, HDHomerun Prime to Nvidia Shield . Latest updates.
If its bad with baseball, Whats going to happen when the Patriots start the regular season,
Will I not be able to watch them win another Superbowl ? Unacceptable !

Sorry for this issue you are experiencing.

It would help if you could enable remote diagnostics (press play/pause 13 times to access the settings menu and enable diagnostics).
Then, once enabled, replicate the issue noting the time and date.
Reply to me with the details including your device id and I can take a look to see what is happening at that time.

Other details I need to know are:
Is the shield connected to a TV or AV receiver?
Have you tried disabling AC3 pass through (also can be done via settings menu) to see if that resolves the issue.
