Windows Media Center Guide Data
I assume from recent reports guide data in wmc will be dead soon. Anyone know if this is actually true? I use Windows 8.1 wmc. I can replace it with epg123 and schedules direct which is $25 a year. I wish there were a way to record drm at this point.

Yes exactly. My guide data is still good for about 12 days. I assume it will stop updating.

Yep, in the same boat, and for me personally, the HDHR UI is unusable. My style of watching tv is grid guide based, so I'll either go with EPG123, or another solution that uses other hardware.
Re: Windows Media Center Guide Data
if your WMC guide data is still working then you are lucky. Mine died sometime in 2017 and I switched to using schedulesdirect with EPG123. it is superior to what WMC had, so worth your time to investigate switching to.
I, for one, wish I had switched years before (assuming both schedulesdirect and epg123 existed <grin>).

Re: Windows Media Center Guide Data
Honestly WMC Guide was never that accurate to begin with. We switched to EPG123 a year ago and it is so much better, the information is current, photos actually match, so I am one who doesn't care if Microsoft discontinues their Guide service. The only downside is you need to keep a $7.00 yearly fee current with Schedules Direct which I already had years before.
EPG123 can be a bit confusing to install. Though it is documented, it can seem a bit confusing. Once you understand how it works, it is really quite easy. But support is great, it is free, though I donated to it.

I pay $25 a year for schedules direct. How are you getting it for $7.00 a year?Honestly WMC Guide was never that accurate to begin with. Re: Windows Media Center Guide Data
EPG 123 is fantastic as it also allows you to edit the guide and add icons, etc. As I mentioned in another thread, as long as my 360's keep running WMC is going to stay our primary live TV Option. The Slice view in it's current iteration is just a mess.

I stand corrected, I do pay $25 annual fee. I don't know what I was thinking of when I said that.I pay $25 a year for schedules direct.
