HDHR Viewer on Kodi (OSMC)

Postby jamessahm » Mon Jan 07, 2019 2:31 pm

Hardware Model HDHR3-CC
Firmware Version 20180817

Using latest OSMC-KODI v17 (2018-21.1) and latest HDHOMERUN Viewer 09172018.

Live stream will start and after a random number of seconds, completely pixelate, and "green screen"...

Switched skins from OSMC to Etuary as someone had mentioned, but still same issue... NOT channel dependent...

system is running on RPi v3b+ ... MPEG2 key installed.

Any ideas? Been flawless until I upgraded to latest firmware on HDHR3-CC (20180817) also, latest viewer (09172018)... Not working well at all.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Do you see the same problems using the HDHomeRun PVR addon?

Apparently it is a POE HAT issue with the RPi 3b+... during H.264 decoding, cpu pulls power beyond older POE HAT capability, and it "browns out" (for a lack of a better term) causing weird screen pixelization and scramble. Stopping the stream (releasing CPU power load) and restarting the stream works, but then at a random time when CPU power draw spikes, it happens all over again.... See article here about the Raspberry Pi POE HAT: https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/poe-hat-revision/

This hardware bug has apparently been fixed in latest release of the POE HAT, but I have not tested that yet (went back to regular power supply and all works fine...)

Thanks for the assist! Jim
