Buffer Lost at the Hour

Postby GetMatt » Sun Dec 16, 2018 11:07 pm

My wife was watching a DRM channel using the LiveTV buffer (77 Hallmark). The movie ended at 10:00pm PST. At the time she was 5minutes behind and right when the time hit 10:00 the channel said unable to play and then switch back to live with no buffer. What happened there. Is this a bug or did the stream from our provider disappear for 5 minutes?

It's definitely odd. The in app buffer that's used for DRM shouldn't be aware of the time, so whether it's 10pm or 9:37pm should be exactly the same. DVR is aware of the time, but isn't used for DRM channels. If you can turn on debug on the device and in app and reproduce the issue, we should be able to see exactly what's happening. Guide for turning on debug is here: viewtopic.php?t=69066

Oh, and we'll need your device ID after you've reproduced so we can see what's happening.

By the way GetMatt expects the DeviceID to be read from his "location" on the left... I would have let him respond such but wanted to point out that I usually view on a phone or a small width window and never see such and that may also be the case of someone in "support" having multiple windows open. Most likely reporting on the app must have been turned on at the time though.

Yeah I put it in there because I don’t have it memorized and am not always at home to read the device IDs. You are correct that we did not have reporting turned on. We will turn it on in case we see it again. I’m guessing it’s a fringe case though since we have not see it before or since.

Putting your device ID in location is actually a really great idea. I wonder if I can create an actual device ID section for people so they don't have to hack location.

That would be very helpful.
