Recent WD My Cloud DVR issues

Postby nateb » Tue Nov 27, 2018 8:32 pm

This is a note coming from support about recent My Cloud issues. I'll leave this stuck up for about a week.

per support:

WD pushed out a firmware update that made some changes that caused issues for previous versions of the DVR software.

If you reinstall the latest version everything should go back to working normally. if you're using a multi-disk model, download and install the latest package from viewtopic.php?f=126&t=65379 . If you're using a single-disk model, reinstall using the NAS Install in HDHomeRun Setup.

We would recommend turning off automatic firmware updates on the My Cloud to prevent unwanted surprises in the future - best to let it check and notify you when an update is available, then you do the install when you have some time to verify everything is working after.

Current Version WDMyCloud v04.05.00-327 : Core F/W
Last Update Monday, May 21, 2018 9:12:08 PM

04.05.00-327 is the latest version of the 04.x firmware series. You can look up the latest firmware version on the WD support site if you want to manually verify.

So, if I understand you correctly... The latest version of the firmware for the single drive WD MyCloud WILL WORK, if you install the latest version of HDHomeRun download "20180921" and run the NAS install from NAS Install button on the DVR tab in setup. Or, are you saying you need to revert to old firmware on the WD and reinstall HDHomeRun NAS Install?? Sorry for being dense!

Latest record engine for wd will work. Alternatively revert firmware of mycloud.

I felt this post/thread was rather late as the issue was found and fixed weeks ago. You may wish to look at the "original" thread here.

You want the latest WDC firmware and the latest HDHomeRun DVR release.

Easiest is to run HDHomeRun Setup on a Windows machine and run the NAS installer. This will download the latest HDHomeRun DVR release and install it on the NAS.
