Same boat as others, the fire TV codecs just cause constant freezes making the video freeze and audio continue for a few seconds then dies. I can watch a logcat on the fire TV via adb and see the crash in the codec when the stream dies.

I am not sure if this is an issue with the use of the codec on the silicon dust or if it's an issue with codec on Amazon's side, but it's a frustrating issue that needs to be corrected and plagues all fire TV devices, fire TV 2, stick, cube and built in.

I opened a ticket on this as well and will post the logcat exception here too, if it helps.

20191025 is the app version.
I still have some issues with 20191025 on the Fire Stick 4K. The problems we have are channels that get all messed up (should post a pic as I don't know how to describe the issue) and will be fine if we change the channel and come back. However, I have not noticed it on any of my older devices.
Original FireTV box, 2nd or 3rd gen Fire Stick and FireTV 4K (pendant style) all seem OK. I'll probably keep the Fire Stick 4K this time as it works more than it doesn't but can still be annoying. Plus I have a feeling if they raise my cable bill in December I'm going to cancel cable and go all streaming. Might get an HDHR Quattro to replace my HDHR Prime though.

I also have the same problem as others with the video freezing and then sound for a few seconds before it crashes.
This is using the Firestick 4K with the Prime using Verizon. I can make it happen on Oxygen(E)channel 644 station and OWN
channel 645. Not sure if there are other channels affected. Crashes between 15 -45 minutes.

Jason,

I have a customer using two brand new Fire TV 4k and they are also experiencing the Audio Sync issue after fast forwarding through commercials.

Has this been resolved??

Jason,
This is from a fire tv2 but I can reproduce on a 4K built in as well as a cube and a stick... Debugging is enabled on the device so you should be able to see that as well.

I also have a ticket open and just provided this update to ticket 126536:

Hello,
I was just able to reproduce the error on a recording that I can upload... While playing a recording of Mr. Robot on USA, the video stream crashes at 24:33 just after a commercial for the Krasno lawfirm ends and the show begins.

Let me know if there is a location I can drop the file so you can reproduce on your end and debug and below is the trace while capturing a logcat the following stack and error is thrown.

Have they updated to the new app version that came out a few days ago? It did fix a pretty significant bug that was causing sync issues.

Jason,

Yes after forcing down the 20191025 update and a firmware update , the issue has been resolved. Thanks to the team.

Jason,

I don't think the firmware update completely solved the audio sync problems (at least for me). I posted in this forum about the pixelated and corrupted video and out of sync audio from the Fire Stick 4K on 09/28, and later wrote that I solved both issues by switching the audio settings of the Fire Stick from Auto to Stereo and the Display from Auto to 1080p 60Hz or lower. Recently, however, the Fire Stick firmware updated automatically to the latest version (Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K: Fire OS 6.2.6.8 (3255372676) and the HDHR app updated to 20191025 and now I am experiencing significant audio sync problems on all live and dvr OTA channels. The video, however, remains crystal clear. Sometimes I can re-sync the audio by backing out of the program and restarting it--but it doesn't last. Any ideas how to resolve this? Thanks.

Is there anything in particular that seems to trigger the desync, like a reception glitch, or going to/coming out of a commercial?

Jason,

No. audio starts out ok, but then it falls behind--and not just slightly behind--it's off by a lot--makes it unwatchable. The video, however, is still sharp and watchable. It happens on live streaming and dvr (which makes sense because it records the audio and the sync problem). I don't know if the sync issue is confined to certain channels because I mostly record programs on Channel 2 (CBS) and Channel 4 (NBC) which are the lower channels in the spectrum here. I recently calibrated and tuned my outdoor antenna so I know the signal and symbol quality are strong for both those channels.

You do have the Use AC3 passthrough option turned off, right? If you're not sure, open the app and press play/pause 13 times to bring up the settings screen and see what it shows.
