I would definitely get the adapter. Try lowering resolution to 2160P@ 60. from Auto

Lowering the resolution made response worse..going to wait for enet adapter to arrive
to hopefully up my opinion of this gadget..btw, the HDHR app on the Fire TV still
does NOT play CBS recorded shows (a bummer); you & I use Emby I realize but I
wish the HDHR app would work properly as I sometimes use it..patiently waiting for
the adapter..over & out..

True I have no reason to watch the HDHomeRun app in Firetv as it does not support DRM anyway .. so Emby is ok.

Having the same problem here. I had good success for a couple days with my first 4k firestick, so I bought 2 more for the other two TVs.

Now all three of them are doing this green screen flicker dance. HD Homerun periodically crashes, when it used to be rock solid for watching TV. Plex also has this green flicker nightmare.

We've released Channels 2.1 today which works around the buggy hardware mpeg2 decoder on the 4K stick.

Thanks to everyone who emailed in sample recordings to help us debug this problem. We've opened some bug reports with Amazon and hopefully they'll be able to address the hardware decoding issues in the next FireOS release.

I was able to sideload KODI with the unofficial Addon and it plays all channels just fine.

In KODI Settings/Player I disabled Allow hardware acceleration both MediaCodecs.

The adapter helped immensely and not only that: CBS now plays Live in Emby!! No
Green flickering screens. Fire Os has not been updated as I just checked so I wonder
what has happened? Can't imagine that wifi was causing the video distortions we all saw..

Nope..take it back..CBS still freezes about 10 mins in; HDHR still does not
play CBS or NBC( Green flickering screen); Channels 2.1 is currently the
only app capable of reliable playing & recording of CBS & NBC on my
Fire TV 4k Stick..

It looks like the MPEG2 decoder in the FireTV Stick 4k is a bit broken.

We will file a bug with Amazon and are looking into the possibility of decoding MPEG2 in software to make it work.

For me EMBY plays them all flawlessly … Including all recordings... I use the HDHomeRun for recording and use EMBY to serve them up to my Firestick 4K and everything just works.

I am not sure how powerful your EMBY server is but have you tried to set the setting on the EMBY Firestick Client to DE-INTERLACE HD on the server it already does this for SD that is why no green screen.

If that does not work I just fixed someone that was having the same problem as you … I had them uninstall EMBY re-install it and only check in playback settings "Enable Refresh Rate Switching" on the firestick settings make sure Video Resolution is set to Auto and "Match Original Framerate" is on …. The reason why I had them uninstall because of testing with EMBY on the firestick the settings get messed up best to start from scratch.

I hope the solution isn't that I have to install Emby or Kodi to make this work. The window on a return date for this is the 31st. I hope there is a ray of sunlight before then.
