nate
can you confirm that this issue is being looked into? Does SD need any more info from us users?

We are looking at it. This may seem like a kinda crazy question, but is there any chance everyone reporting sync issues is using an Extend? And the issues are specifically cropping up when playing h264 video, rather than mpeg2? I was able to replicate on a Fire TV, but only using h264 video.

I'm using a Connect:
Model: HDHR5-2US
Device ID: 1062E8EE
Firmware: 20180817

The audio sync issue is present and accounted for.
It's difficult to maintain an audio/video sync when the stream caves in/glitches out periodically. Sometimes things recover instantly from these 'outages' and sometimes they don't. If a reliable stream can be maintained for a while things usually catch up, but I have seen an entire segment out of whack.

OTA MPEG-2 streams remain unaffected - 'cause they're not (usually) dropping off a cliff while in progress.

So ACraigo, for you it's only h264?

But mchias, for you it's everywhere. The Nexus player is kinda old and not well supported. Do you have any other android devices you could report on? It shouldn't occur in Win10, but feel free to report back if you test it.

For me it's MPEG2 on my Nvidia Shield. Always seems worse in Live Channels but also happens in the HDHR app. It was really bad on a recorded show the other night. My wife always complains about the voices out of sync with the lips. I keep telling her you guys will get it fixed.

The recorded show was from a premium channel.

2 primes, 2 legacy and a connect duo(recently added). Been happening with the primes since the DVR kickstarter began.

I'm using a Connect (in the UK), running the HDHR App on my Shield. Problem appears on h.264 and MPEG2 streams.

Worse in LiveChannels (using the HDHR App source rather than network tuner), but also perceptible in the HDHR App itself.

I use Plex DVR rather than HDHR DVR, and I see no sync issues with recorded shows.

Happens frequently. I don't watch Live, so everything is recorded and most likely watched with the player in the Roku Plex App.

The 'work-around' at this time is when you see the lips and the words part ways back up one thumbnail and give the player another crack at it. Usually works. If not the first time, the second time.

OTA is unaffected.

I have 2 Nvidia Shields and a Nexus Player and it only happens on the Shields.
I have 2 Primes and they are recording to a WD MyCloud single bay. It does seem worse after the DRM update, but it did it before.
Sometimes i can pause and unpause and it recovers and other times it seems like i need to close the app and reopen to fix it.

Nate,
Does the Android app use the mpeg2 hardware decoding? There used to be a check box in the settings to turn it on. That check box is gone now.

I have an HDhomerun Extend, local off air tv is mpeg2. I'm using an Apple TV 4k with the "Channels" app to watch tv.

A few days ago I updated firmware from 20180327 to 20180817 and now get out of sync sound when it wasn't present with the older firmware.

I'm using the connect with Shield and have also been experiencing sync issues. Is there an option to roll-back firmware? Live tv is unusable through the app...same issue with the Kodi plugin too. Way better when I stream directly to the TV, bypassing the Shield entirely.

I very seldom use the HDHomeRun app to view my recordings … but this morning I was watching World of Dance and it was out of sync. Recording is OTA Mpeg2. This is on my ShieldTV … went back to watching in KODI and it plays fine.

Glad I found this thread - thought I was alone.

I have two SiliconDust HDHR's with Verizon Fios cable cards.

Two NVIDIA Shields running 7.1. I've noticed the issue with Live Channels and SD HDHR SD app. The problem also seems present in other applications like PLEX and YouTube. Because of the multiple app I was thinking the issue was with the shield and not SD.

The other issue i'm seeing is every 5-10 seconds (it is very random) I see micro-stutter, or frame drop.. It is kind of hard to explain and not everyone sees the frame drop.

I was thinking it was the LG OLED65C8 - but at this point it doesn't seem likely.

Again yesterday afternoon and last evening watching FNC live using the HDHR app the AV sync was really bad. Pausing live TV for a second seemed to help but then it would go out of sync again fairly quick.

This was on my Shield 2015 box.

Any progress on this?
